6 Inch Lift (cost is not a concern)

Also, what shock package would you choose? What upper control arms? Anything else that would be good to incorporate into these kits.

Have you looked at the parts list for each kit and the instructions to see how the lift is achieved and what all the parts in the kit are for? They clearly have different pieces from each other.

I see a lot of positive reviews on the Rough Country lift, but the only review I saw for BDS was someone complaining that their front differential cracked a year after the install.

Out of those 2 choices, I think I like Rough Country better. It appears that they probide different struts. But the BDS kit is just supplying spacer blocks for the existing struts.

Both seem to supply lift blocks for the rear leaf springs, which I'm not comfortable with. It would be wise to skip those and order 6" lift leaf springs from Skyjacker or have some built at a local spring shop.

There's not much choice for a 6-inch lift. Skyjacker designed a 6-inch but never released it. I've always had the impression that BDS was the cheaper of the cheap lifts.

Regardless, I'd love to follow the build thread if @Tbow2025 installs a lift on his Ranger.

It's been a while since I looked at BDS or heard anything on them. They did seem to have a decent reputation at the time.

Rough Country has gotten a lot of heat for the quality of their lift kits.

So, it seems to be a roll of the dice as to which to get. Like mentioned above, take a hard look at the components to decide which might be the better gamble.

There was a time when Rough Country was just a suspension company. Now you can get a suspension, wheels, winch, 12V fridge, and pretty much everything you need to make an off-road or overlanding vehicle from them.

After looking at the installation of both kits I now agree that the RC kit is a better option. Less cutting, especially not cutting on the differential. The BDS appears to allow for about 1 inch more ground clearance on the front diff with their installation process is the real difference in my opinion. The other issue I have is the shop says they do not want to put my Eibach coilovers on the lift because they don’t stack lifts, which I understand, but they are okay with adjusting the stock coilovers per the instructions or installing other coilovers ie the Fox 2.5’s from the BDS kit (which I like by the way).

RC supplies coilovers spacers for their kit too. I will look into the lifted leak springs. I like that suggestion. I may do the blocks 1st, then move to the lifted springs. Thank you.

We have their overhead cargo rack thing in our Bronco, it seemed well made for something with no moving parts.
