What did YOU do today?

The riding mower got jealous of the Ranger and threw a fit when I tried to change the blades on it. The first one came off ok, but the second one was froze so tight that I accidentally unscrewed the pulley. The shaft fell out with the blade. So I had to pull the mower deck and fiddle with the inner spacers so that it would go back in. I even had to tap it a little. (Why did it slide out so easy?). I did notice that the pulley brake had jarred out of place, so I fixed that. Got the deck back together and the new blades installed. Just gotta flex out part of the deck where the blades are touching and throw it all together.

Not too bad for a twenty year old mower.

Some days are good days when you just end up where you started

Pretty sure I have 1” in 3/8”, might have some 1.25 or 1.5” long. I know I have some stubby button caps in 3/8” because I bought a pack just to use two on my farm tractor. I have the stainless rivet nuts too. Might put an order in for some more bolts soon too…

The mandrel fits and I found a drill bit.

The drawer slides fought me all day but they are installed in the box. They came with no hardware or instructions. So I had to figure it out myself. Being that I paid $0 for them, I'm not going to complain.

Continued my quest to clean up the shop some so I can breathe since a 22' long beast needs to get pulled in this weekend...

Last night I stuck my spare 1354M and 4406M T cases on a small HFT moving dolly and strapped them to it then hoisted them to the loft as a primer for todays shenanigan's... started off with the lightest engine of the 3 to get up there, the Camry 2.4L that's not healthy but in my way, ratchet strapped that to a HFT dolly and got it up there, the truck crane moved more than I wanted so I went in a couple holes and doubled the cable to the winch just to go slower and smoother before I got the two Lima's up there, that went just fine too but since I used the engine leveler to lift I had to use the hydraulic jack on the thing to get more height, everything actually worked! Since it was 10pm at that point I called it

Tomorrow I need to get my valve grinder up there and out of my way so I have access to that cart in case I need to rebuild a transmission here shortly...

Installed a leveling kit on the 24 ranger. I will put pics in the what did you do to you 19+ ranger thread though.

Other than that, almost died from heat exhaustion installing the kit. Humidity has it at 106

Practiced the fine art of turd polishing and buffed the micro camper so it stops turning me green every time I touch it. Anyone know of something I can put on it that protects from uv, so maybe it'll still have some paint on it in a couple years?

Clearcoat? :icon_rofl:

Drawer construction has started. The one for the side with the slide rails is pretty much done outside of doing something that will allow me to pull open the drawer and gluing the pieces together. I might use one of those light duty recessed things for that. They have worked well when used to strap down my canoe. So, they should work well enough as a drawer pull.

Hell of a day. Woke up about 3:45 am, dog wanted out, usually its about 5am at the earliest but for whatever reason it was early today. I let her out, opened the chicken house door to the enclosed run, went back in the house. was kind of hungry so I grabbed a donut & was going to read news on my phone, saw I had a message from my daughter at around 2am. Opened it to news that she was in a car accident, in a hospital a good hour drive away & has a broken hip. Kids were with them but they are (physically) ok. her husband has a broken left wrist & a very sore right leg. Story is they were cut off on I-75 & he plowed into something, another car, guardrail, something. I saw pictures of the car, obviously toast (saturn). She might be home monday, I got to the hospital about 6am & was there until 730. Then went home & grabbed the mower & trailer, went to her house & mowed. Got things together for tomorrow. My electric weed eater wouldn’t touch the overgrowth at her house & since she will need a clear path to the back side door with no steps I am heading back tomorrow with a gas weed eater that has a brush head on it. Might drag the empty trailer to haul away the cut weeds & some downed branches. Their other vehicle is a 2000’s 1/2 ton dodge crew cab 4x with nearly bald 35”’s on it. might have to give up one of the escapes for awhile, mine is in better overall shape but needs the front control arms on , a alignment & the back seat put in. The V6 escape is newer but badly rusted in critical spots plus it leaks oil. One thing at a time, get that house accessible first.

Couple of window cleaning jobs then I stripped the shingles off the roof of the yard barn.
Stinking hot and humid, I had to take a cold shower when I was done to stop sweating.
Then I put the new DPFE sensor on the Ranger. Some idiot put a leveling kit and bigger tires on it so I had to use a step stool and lay on top of the engine to reach it.
My new knee is holding up okay.

Dad’s toy got a peek at sunlight today. Since his Ranger is mostly done, he’s itching to get started on this beast. Probably use my farm tractor to pull it out to drain fluids and clean it then push it back in. Guess I better get to work on the farm tractor, lol
