What did YOU do today?

A couple months ago I think it was I got a couple spring tine harrow bottoms but no bar to go between them, together they were a pain to move around so I had them near the shop so I could make a hitch for them, before I get my boat in the shop and in the way of everything I decided to get that project out of the way... took a chain I found a few years ago while digging out my pond which was about only good for this project not using as a chain and a 2" pipe or tube (not sure, got it from a $5 ladder rack thing) and started cutting stuff up and it almost looks like I meant for something to happen :). I did even use a measuring tape here and there to make sure it was reasonable... I took a pic, might post it later.

That sounds like a good day. Buckee’s and a new Bronco.

How long before it’s in the woods? How much trouble are you going to get in after she finds out?
Shoot. She's already warned me haha. I've been working on her all day. Hoping to get her to at least take it out on some dirt roads. Couldn't even get her to drive it through the yard today haha.

Yesterday was the annual spring cleaning at church in the morning then in the afternoon I finished winching pine trees out of a pond for a local couple that got hit by a microburst.

Unfortunately the bar on my little chainsaw gave up right at the end, so now I need a new bar and chain for that. I was considering buying a spare for that saw too, guess I have to now, lol

Later yesterday I should have been cleaning the shop so I can get the boat in to make it a new floor but that sounded like work so I jumped on the tractor and went mowing the wetland area, with a drink and cigar of course... why not :). Went well, I'm getting more calculated with my tractoring, was on the verge of getting stuck like 5 times but was able to weasel out... I think this is the earliest I've attempted some areas so it's understandable...

Yesterday I was making use of the good weather, it's raining today, I might be able to get the shop cleaned and the boat in between showers though.

Since I had the phone on the computer to get the harrow picture I finally got the pictures of my stereo tray modifications... Initially I was going to get more creative with melting ABS to make an extension but I didn't have any on hand so the Rubbermaid material is what was used:

Works pretty good, I need to add some breathing holes as when it nears 80 outside the phone starts complaining about the charger not working but the alignment pins work great!

Then there's the harrow I made the hitch for yesterday:

That chain I found had the hook and the big loop on it so I used both, heck I even reused the quick link I attached them with, part of the chain had like 5 on it, every 5 links for some reason in a 5' section, still have a couple feet for future projects.

Well my day started off at work at 4am as usual. I took off around 8 for field day at Zoey's school. View attachment 127819
After that I noticed Corey was due some new tires on the Edge. She had also been wanting to go to Buckee's. She had never been. So we loaded up and headed north. Visited the Buckee's in Scottsville KY. About a 40 min drive. On the way back we stopped by the Ford dealership since I had a $200 coupon on a set of 4 tires. We found the perfect set. Unfortunately they were on a 2024 Bronco Big Bend. Well she had to have them so here we are.

So here's her new Bronco 😁

I don't think that is how things are supposed to work. You are supposed to replace just the tires, not the whole vehicle!

Congrats on the new vehicle!

Today I worked on making a TRS banner for the crew going to the Ford Nationals in Carlisle Pa next month.

Installed the replacement GMRS radio Midland sent me. The mic was shorting out.
Washed the mud off from the Kentucky trip and saw that my sliders had been sliding against something (I think it was a big log)

And the best part of the day.....

I found out that I'm a Professional Racer.

Yep.

As I was washing the truck a guy and his wife stopped and he asked me if I was a professional racer. Apparently the rumor in town is that I race at some sand track that I never heard of. His wife apparently said I probably just do 'internet shit'. Sweet lady. So I explained that I created a Ranger site 26 years ago, the older Ranger is my off-road truck and was built back in 2004 for a magazine series, that the newer truck is my adventure truck, and that I use them to promote the website.

And here is yet another interesting thing about living in a small town...

The guy said he knew I was out of town and was watching my house. Apparently this guy gets up at 3am to go to work, passes my house, and sees my light on and that I'm still up at 3am. He saw that my truck wasn't here at night and the light wasn't on and concluded that I was out of town, so he apparently 'kept an eye on it'.

Gotta love small towns.

I took a slightly different tact on mounting the GMRS radio. I saw some plastic loops under the seats that are attached to the wire that provide support to the seat cushion. I zipped tied the bracket to those loops, leaving enough room for another radio to go under there in the future. Probably a dual band Ham radio since the CB is on the other side of the console.

Yesterday I played "Chainsaw Hero" at the sportsman's club. A few trees had been knocked down by the last rain storm, blocking part of the parking lot and laying in the creek, causing a potential damming issue in the future. Side benefit, I got about 2/3 of a truck load out of it, and the usual sore back. The wood is now in one of the first year racks to cure and await being split. Once I get some time, I head back down for some more tree carcass to fill up the other rack.

I also picked up to pressure treated wood to build a covered storage rack for the carport rafters so they can stop being just stored out in the elements when not being used and give them a secure place to be so they stop getting blown over when there is a bad storm.

Today, not much other than church and pain medication for the back while it recovers. I see a chiropractor tomorrow. So, it all works out.

So, you built covered storage for the covered storage for your truck.

In case anybody is wondering, his trucks nickname is "Porc U. Pine".

I have flush cut cutters. So not so much. 😝
I was referring to the antennas on top. I trust you enough to know you don't leave sharp zip ties.

Made some decent progress on the truck & ordered a set of poly leaf & shackle bushings.

Good way to end a bad week.
