What did YOU do today?

Only thing of note that I did today was pull a datalog on the Ranger to send into the tuner. We'll see if they want to make any changes. Probably not since they said at the outset that it shouldn't need any if 100% mechanically. Still, I paid for custom tunes, so I'm going to send it in for review. If they are right about no adjustments needed, then I see no advantages to running high octane in this. I requested tunes for what ever they recommended and for 87 incase I was in a location where that wasn't available. Of course they recommended 91 saying it would provide more power and sent both. I've used both so far and can tell no difference in power or efficency between the two, might be different on the track, but I'm not racing. So if these tunes are optomized already, it looks like I'll be sticking with 87.

Only other thing of note that happened is I notified my boss that I'll be taking a week of leave next week. I'm long overdue for a vacation, schedules are preventing me from taking an extended time off after that for a month or two. Problem is I have no idea where to go or what to do. Want to get away from home, but somewhere within about a days drive of middle GA. At this time I want a destination, not a road trip. Hotel, not tent camping. Not interested in setting up and breaking down camp, and these days I need A/C (or very cool weather) to sleep well. Drive there, spend a few days seeing the sites, drive back. No place in mind that I want to spend a week alone. Plenty of places that I want to see, just not particularly interested in seeing them solo right now.

May end up staying home and seeing if I can get some stuff done around here. Anything I can get done now is one less thing I've got to think about later when I find some place I do want to venture off too. Also thinking that later this year I may end up starting a cargo trailer conversion camper, that would open up a lot more destinations and my interest in taking a road trip.
just get on hiway 41 and head north. bring an insulated wet suit.

He's not kidding, either. Last time I visited PJ and Racsan, they gave me a snow storm to drive home in.

Cats and dogs arent happy about them.

I sat on the tailgate of the truck and watched the first show for about 30 minutes when i left work. The airfield is across the street from our parking lot. Then came home and thr afternoon show started about an hour later so we are watching them fly up and down our street

Well my day started off at work at 4am as usual. I took off around 8 for field day at Zoey's school.

After that I noticed Corey was due some new tires on the Edge. She had also been wanting to go to Buckee's. She had never been. So we loaded up and headed north. Visited the Buckee's in Scottsville KY. About a 40 min drive. On the way back we stopped by the Ford dealership since I had a $200 coupon on a set of 4 tires. We found the perfect set. Unfortunately they were on a 2024 Bronco Big Bend. Well she had to have them so here we are.

Today I worked on making a TRS banner for the crew going to the Ford Nationals in Carlisle Pa next month.

Installed the replacement GMRS radio Midland sent me. The mic was shorting out.

Washed the mud off from the Kentucky trip and saw that my sliders had been sliding against something (I think it was a big log)

And the best part of the day.....

I found out that I'm a Professional Racer.

Yep.

As I was washing the truck a guy and his wife stopped and he asked me if I was a professional racer. Apparently the rumor in town is that I race at some sand track that I never heard of. His wife apparently said I probably just do 'internet shit'. Sweet lady. So I explained that I created a Ranger site 26 years ago, the older Ranger is my off-road truck and was built back in 2004 for a magazine series, that the newer truck is my adventure truck, and that I use them to promote the website.

And here is yet another interesting thing about living in a small town...

The guy said he knew I was out of town and was watching my house. Apparently this guy gets up at 3am to go to work, passes my house, and sees my light on and that I'm still up at 3am. He saw that my truck wasn't here at night and the light wasn't on and concluded that I was out of town, so he apparently 'kept an eye on it'.

Gotta love small towns.

Yesterday was working towards getting the engine pulled in my buddy Paul’s Ranger. Broke a swivel and then broke the last exhaust bolt.

That sounds like a good day. Buckee’s and a new Bronco.

How long before it’s in the woods? How much trouble are you going to get in after she finds out?

Changed the struts in the Camry, started in the back since I thought that would be the easy end but not really with getting the seat chunks out to get to the top nuts... all in all not a bad job and only took just over 2 hours... took it for a test drive and it's WAY better, I think it was down to one functioning shock... and it's like 3/4" taller I think with the new springs...

Hauled mulch... cut grass... and about to turn in the leaves i blew into the garden last fall.

Then I do whatever the wife wants me to do. She's managed over the years to turn mother's day... into mother's three day.

Started working on getting my tractor operational again, got the linkage straightened out, gasket surfaces cleaned, new hydraulic piston installed in cylinder, was about to put pieces back together and then realized I have no permatex on hand. Sure it might not really be needed but it helps to keep it in place while handling heavy parts like the hydraulic pump that goes in from underneath & when setting down the top plate assembly thats over 75 pounds. Going to drag my engine hoist out to set it in place. Wanted to just put a different top plate assembly on but decided to try & fix my linkage. Propane torch takes forever to heat things enough to get them to bend.
