I always carry, where legally allowed. I just usually carry in such a way that no one knows that I'm in fact carrying.
Every state's laws on the subject are different and have their quirks and limitations. With states like Illinois, the only way to legally transport a weapon is via federal transportation regulations (in a locked case with ammunition in a separate locked case, not immediately accessible to the vehicle occupants). So, it is very important to know, or have the information on hand, for what each state has to say on the subject.
Some states have magazine capacity limitations. Anything more than that arbitrary number can cause legal issues.
Also, because of those quirks and limitations, I have three (3) concealed carry licenses so I can carry in 36 states (5 more than what my home state LTCF receives reciprocity).
As far as the Gaia GPS, some of the locations we are going, there will be no cell phone coverage, and a regular GPS will not cover the trails adequately. It has nothing to with cell phone tracking but the lack of ability to even use the system. Cass, WV for instance, there is a cell phone exclusion zone because of the radio telescopes or some similar system in the area. Meaning, the phones won't have service of any kind.
