I'm sure I got a short.

So far today I've not had a chance to do anything with my truck. So at this point I'm kind of bummed out.
However life does go on.

The best part is I don't have to help/work with my brother tomorrow so I know I'll be able to work on my truck some.

Hopefully everyone is having a good day.

Got to be honest guys I'm somewhat bummed out.
I didn't get to do anything with my truck today and it sucks.

Okay guys I got to work on my truck this morning.

So I think that Curious, Boddy, PJ & Uncle get to be the first ones to tell me I'm an idiot.

The first thing I did this morning was pull all the fuses out of the engine bay fuse box.
I did a visual check before metering them.
On the visual check they all looked good.
I shook them up and down there was no odd sounds.
I then I used my brother's multimeter on each one.
The multimeter told the tell.
Sure enough the 30a EEC Fuse was bad.
After metering all of them.
I went straight to AutoZone and got a 30a fuse and a 20a fuse as well.
Because the guy who owned the truck before me had a 40a fuse in place where a 20a fuse should be.

Once I got back to my truck I replugged in the coil pack wiring harness clip to the coil pack.
I then put pin 2's wire and pin 8's wire back onto the ICM wiring harness plug clip.
I then replugged the the ICM clip onto the ICM.

I then rolled down the driver's window. It's not power so I had to do it by hand. Took all of a few seconds.
I then reshut the door.
Then before I did anything else I check the oil and the radiator.
Found nice pretty oil and nice pretty antifreeze.

Then standing outside the truck door I put the key in the ignition, turn it to the on position.
At that point I heard the fuel pump turn on and the fuel injectors spray.
I then turned the key to the start position.

The truck cranked over a few times (about 3 or 4) and then started right up!!!!!!!!!!

I only let run for a few seconds.

After I shut it off, my brother pulled up in his truck.
My truck is parked behind my brother's house in the alley.
After saying our morning hello's my brother told me that the guy we bought the truck from called him last night asking to buy the truck back. He told my brother he would explain in person.

As my brother and I were starting there talking the previous owner of the truck pulled up.
After talking with him for a few minutes we found out he just wanted the truck back so he could park it at his house and block his Mother-in-law from parking there.
My brother and I gladly volunteered to allow him to borrow any other vehicle we have that don't run to park at his house for that purpose and he don't even got to buy it.

Okay so now I have to say Thank you Curious Hound for all the help.
Thank You too PJ and Bobby.
And thank you to everyone else who helped and or encouraged me to stick with it.

IT RUNS!!!!!!!!!!

The funny part for today is I've been so busy after talking with the truck's previous owner that I've not had any time to do anything else to it.

KISS
K = Keep
I = It
S = Simple
S = Stupid

My biggest mistake was not starting out by using the kiss method to start with and then moving on from there.

Congratulations! Glad you got it running.

I was able to get back to my truck and do some more.

So I got in and when tried to start it started right up.
However it died pretty much just as fast as it started.
I tried this three times. Hopefully that with it settings for over 4 months that it just needed to run a little bit before it would really run.
After it did that 3 times I went ahead and started it once again and this time once it started I gave it a little gas. Just a little took it up to 1500 rpms and held it there for about 45 seconds or so.
Then I let off the gas and it once again died.
So with that be at least some forward movement I did that again 2 more times with the same results.

At that point I told myself, " Well it wants to run. I'm going to just 2 foot it around half the block. ".
And that's just what I did.

Once I parked it after that it stayed running. So I opened the door to get out while it was running and heard vacuum noises Big time.
I pulled the hood cable handle and finished getting out. I opened the hood and looked around still holding the hood up with my hand and saw were I had unscrewed the bracket that holds the cruise control vacuum ball and still had not remounted it.
As I saw that I saw one of the vacuum hoses had came off of it.

So I went ahead and put the hood prop bar into place. Then put my thumb on the vacuum hose that was off and sure enough my truck's idle picked up to were it should have been.
So then I went ahead and hooked hose back up to the cruise control vacuum ball.

After I shut the truck off.
I'll see what happens tomorrow when I start it.
My brother's girlfriend is having a C-section to have their son tomorrow so I know I will be able to work on my truck some more.
I will be dog sitting their dog but that's more a pleasure than a chore. She's such a good dog I'm pretty much there to just make sure no one who's scared of dogs freaks out.

I'll let you all know what progress I get tomorrow.

Good night.

Good job finding the vacuum leak.

I'd like to make a friendly observation and recommendation, if you don't mind. You seem to have a tendency to start disconnecting things and pulling things apart when troubleshooting a problem. That is rarely a good technique. You may want to try to break that habit in the future. As you can see, it leads to confusion and often even causes other unrelated problems. Try to relax, slow down and take logical steps that are related to the problem. Having the wiring diagrams can help. As soon as you start disconnecting things, you change the state or conditions of the circuit you are trying to fix and you can easily hide the original problem by introducing new conditions.

Even just looking at the owners manual, if you have it, or the wiring diagram book would have saved you from "pulling all the fuses" this morning. There were only 2 or 3 fuses related to your problem and they were mentioned earlier in our conversations. By the way, don't rely on just looking at them. Use a meter like you did. I have seen fuses that "looked good" but were not. The break was hidden where it was hard to see.

Now, pat yourself on the back and go have some leftover pie and ice cream.

You are absolutely right Curious I do tend to just jump in and start trying this and that. I try to at least Focus on the problem but as you said what I do can lead to other problems.

I do need to slow down and read more for sure.
I've found one of those EVTM books on eBay more than one truly.
Once I can I'm going to buy one.

Thanks again for all the help. I truly do appreciate it.

Now can you tell me how to add pictures to my posts on here? I want to take pictures of my truck tomorrow and post them.
I also want to post a picture of my brother's dog.

Thanks again for all the help Curious.

Now can you tell me how to add pictures to my posts on here?
The easiest way; at the bottom left corner of the box where you type your messages, there us a button that says "attach files". When you click that, it will interact with your phone or computer and give you an opportunity to select image files and upload them. After that, you should see your image file(s) below the text input box. Like this.

I normally click on the "full image" button to insert the full-size image. The "thumbnail" button just inserts a small representatlive thumbnail image and people have to click on the image to see it large if they want.

There's my brother's dog. She was running around in the alley and caught herself on a cable wire that was hanging down from the pole.
Beings that it was not a power wire and just a cable wire we thought it was funny. All she had to do to free herself was back up but she didn't realize that until I showed her.

I only know how to post pics from my phone, then I go and edit on the computer. Take picture on phone. I have to use .5 on my iphone 16. If I use 1x it is to large to post. When logged on here, go to the little icon next to the smiley face on the bar at the top of the post The icon is the square with a dot in the top left corner and a little mountain. It will say Drop Image, Click on it, then it will as from Photo Library, Take Photo, or Choose file. I select from Photo Library Select Photo and click done. It will load, then i go to yhe bottom, hit space bar and add my post. At top left corner it ask if i want to preview or post. This is how I do it .

Thanks for the info on adding pictures you guys I'll play around with it tomorrow.

Okay now I don't know why it posted 2
