The global Ford Ranger market (not North America) will be getting a Super Duty version of the Ford Ranger for 2026.

Ford says that the Ranger Super Duty was designed by a team in Australia, will be built in Thailand, and there are currently no plans to sell it stateside.

While technical details aren’t available, Ford has already made some pretty bold promises. It notably claims the Ranger Super Duty will be able to tow up to 9,900 pounds. For context, the American-market Ranger has a 7,500-pound towing capacity; the 2,400-pound difference is about the weight of a Mazda MX-5 Miata.

I saw this yesterday. I was interested if they would bring back a dually rear end on the Ranger. May open options for some midsized Ranger based campers or RVs again. Would be awesome to see the rebirth of those little RVs.

Considering the market, that's enough extra capacity for a rail gun, lots of ammo and maybe a small artillery piece in tow..

When I went to Italy, I saw a few of these "trucks":

My 2021 Ford Ranger would be massive over there. I understand why they're creating a super duty version for overseas since they don't sell full size pickups there.

I doubt that Ford would sell it here because it would cut into their fullsize truck sales.

i feel like a midsized truck is enough for 99% of american drivers.

that would be awesome to have the option a super duty ranger.

Normally I would agree with you but since they eliminated the Supercab option in 2024, Ford took the Ranger out of the general category of usefulness. You can get by with a lot of things when you have a 6' bed. Lord knows I've done it for years with the 2011, and I have the roof racks for when it doesn't.

Unless one has roof racks for the 2019+ Supercrew, it's basically an SUV with a large, open cargo area.

Not to say that the F150 Supercab is better. I think the bed on it is pretty short as well, unless they kept the 6' bed option and most people just aren't ordering it.

In anycase, I agree a mid size with a 6' bed is indeed usually enough for most people.

thats true. a longer bed would definitely make it way more useful. but, that flat bed would make it way more useful too

the f150 came with the longer bed last time i tried building one but its been a while so i cannot say if it does this year.

Longer bed is definitely better for truck stuff IMO.

After seeing this and the $10000 Toyota, I'm wondering when cheap "universal" beds like that will be common. I might be interested if they could be had cheap enough.

So few people use pickups for actual truck stuff now, that you cannot even get an 8' bed anywhere but on a regular cab. Even the supercab is only available w/ the 6.5' bed.

My 5’ bed Ranger has been used to haul everything I needed to rebuild almost 2000 sq ft of my new house. If you need an 8’ bed to accomplish your goals, you’re not looking for a truck, you’re looking for an excuse.

yup. if i go that way....mine will be a super duty.
