holy awesomeness..... yeah....for that i would keep it in my bedroom...

... the ranger otoh......that damn 4l80 is a heavy mo fo. fawgin tq converter weighs 75 pounds.... ...

That's a riot... the 1948's (3 or 4 speed square cut gears, no synchronizer, all iron) have got to weight 250#... I was so relieved to put an alu T5 in cause it was light enough to lift by hand and align solo (~75#)

Yeah, I’m glad I don’t really deal with much other than these M5OD’s …. Super light and easy to install/remove….. I don’t really look forward to doing a clutch in my 93 Cummins lol 😂

car manual transmissions?? i dont think any of the old ones in cars i pulled were more then 150 pounds the three speeds anyways.....hell the muncies were under 100.

autos are heavy.

that 10 r in the 250 weighs 350 pounds... hell the one curt had shipped i think was 450 with the crating.

i thought 250 pounds for the 4l80 was something till i seen that.....that is 6 more gears and 100 more pounds...

definitely makes it easy to live with the m5odr1

F-1 (the first year of the F-series).... I swapped out the original 4 speed.... Warner T8D. Amongst the 40's and 50's enthusiasts we call it the "crash box" - dead serious google it, you are bound to find 200 results for "4 speed crash box"... it was the same 4 speed used in the F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 (school bus), but I do NOT think it was used in the F6, F7 (fire engine) or F8 (semi-tractor trailer). The big big trucks got the T-98

One of the other nicknames for it is the HD4 (heavy duty 4 speed) - since it was capable of being used in the 1/2 ton clear up through the F5 maybe even the F6 (10 ton grain truck). The thing had to be WW2 surplus cause the first gear (granny) was exactly the same speed as infantry marching. Top speed was 43 mph screaming away 100 rpm past redline.
