I recently bought a v8 swapped Ranger its a 2001 Ford Ranger xlt with mountaineer 5.0 v8, rear end and transmission. I bought new tires for the truck not knowing i had to program the ABS Module. I don't think my regular mechanic does that sort of thing. Wondering what known shops would do that? Just need to program the tire size or radius. I would have the mechanic who built the truck do it but they live far away from me. So i was hoping that a known shop in the 91710 area would do that for me.

Thus far no check engine light but the truck generally doesn't shift as smooth as it once did and the speedometer off by a little so no major issues.
But the truck feels like its stuck in 3rd gear sometimes. It has a 4 speed automatic transmission... 4R70W Transmission with trans go shift kit

If you put some huge tires on it, the transmission is not going to shift to 4th and lug the engine.

I put 235 /70 R16 109T XL OWL on it from 235/70 15 if i remember correctly. Its only a little larger. I went from 15 inch wheels to 16 inch wheels.
Size comparison

235/70 15 Wall size .5in Radius 14.0in Diameter 28.0in Circumference 87.8in Revs/Mile 722 Difference 0
235/70 R16 .5in 14.5in 29.0in 91.0in 697 3

I don't have the software or the the scanner but that is from the mechanic who does who built the truck

But the truck does feel like its stuck in 3rd gear on the freeway.
At approximately what speed and rpm should i shift to 4th gear? 4 speed automatic transmission... 4R70W Transmission with trans go shift kit

Im going to park the truck for awhile i don't want to burn up the transmission.

I got it done thanks for your replys. But next time i will do it myself watching it being done... it looked very easy. There was only one setting to change the rev/mile for tire size change. But there wasn't a setting for tire radius just the rev/mile

They did it with a scanner or they did it from the instrument cluster?

They did it with a scanner connected to a laptop. But the interface was done on a laptop. My truck comes up as a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer AWD. The ABS Module is AWD or 4wd module but my truck is 2 wheel drive. But the donor vehicle was suppost to be 2001.
The only tire setting was rev/mile I had it set to 697 for 235/70 R16.

It was set at 761 so i had it changed from 761 to 697 Rev/mile I sure hope that is accurate otherwise i would have to pay another 250$ to have it changed again. Or i would have to invest in the scanner and software.

It really bothers me cause i can't feel or hear the truck shifting to 4th gear or overdrive. You can feel 123 but not 4th or overdrive. What should my rpms be? Or at approximately what speed should i shift to 4th gear or overdrive. 4th gear is overdrive correct. I just bought this truck so im still getting to know it.

697 is correct. Forscan is free software for your laptop. All you would need to buy is an interface. You can get them on Amazon for $60.
Forscan

Do you have a tachometer? You should see the RPM's drop each time it shifts to a higher gear.

No i don't have a tachometer. Or at least i don't think i do. I have the regular cluster that comes with the truck.
Do you know by any chance the maximum tire size i can program into the ABS Module? I might get a lift spindle kit in the future and will need larger tires.
