Hello all -
I have a 2000 Ford Ranger with a parasitic battery draw.
I previously did some trouble shooting on it, and isolated it to the circuit that has the GEM module on it, but I cant recall exactly what circuit number this is. This is the same circuit that has the radio on it. In reading and searching, the GEM is suppose to go into "low power mode" after X amount of minutes through a time delay relay. It is not doing this, and draws enough current to drain the battery dead if the vehicle sits for 2-3 weeks (which it does at times). I have tried to find this "time delay relay", but it is either hidden deeply within the vehicle, or part of the GEM itself!
I have mostly been "living with it" and either drive it every once in a while, or put a trickle charger on it.
My question - has anyone every ran into this, and if yes, what did you do to fix it?
.. as a trouble shooting exercise, I am considering pulling the radio and see if this makes any difference.
Thanks!
