Ticking noise when driving and check oil light

I get the check oil light on when I start my 2.9l v6 stx 89 ranger and rear antilock break light on too. Oil level is full.

There's an oil level sensor on the driver side of the oil pan. Check that the single wire going to it is plugged in.

Yes.

Athough the ticking noise may indicate low pressure...but 2.9's tick...but it might be worth hooking up a real gauge and seeing what the pressure is

The oil level sensor is on the side of the oil pan, don't know which side on a 2.9L but it's on the drivers side on a 2.3L, it's not the same as the oil pressure switch.

On the 2.9 the oil pressure switch is on the driver front corner of the motor, and the oil level sensor is on the driver side of the oil pan.

Not a connection between yellow Check Oil Light and yellow ABS light, except they are both on the dash cluster

There is a 2 or 3 wire sensor on the Brake Master that reads fluid level, if brake fluid is low it will trigger yellow ABS light and usually the red brake light on dash(same red light if you leave parking brake on, which also triggers yellow ABS light)

Low oil sensor is on drivers side of oil pan, has 1 wire
It also has a delay circuit to prevent Low Oil Light from coming on when you go around a corner and oil sloshes to one side of the oil pan
You have to turn off the key and turn it back on to reset Low Oil Light

Same for ABS light, key off and then key on, ABS runs a self test with each key on, if there is a problem with self test it will come back on right away, if there is a problem with wheel sensors it will come on after you start to drive

If both came on at the same time it might indicate a problem in the cluster
Warn lights all get 12volts with key on, they are activate by their sensor's grounding the bulb to light it up

I had the oil pressure pusher go and they said they tested it and it held oil pressure when it went to the shop

The oil pressure sender feeds info to the gauge, the level sender controls the check oil light.

If the pressures good i wouldnt worry a whole lot just check the oil once in a while lol
