Yeah, the original has seen better days.

Welcome to the forum.

Holy rust batman! I'm pretty sure if you put all of the surface rust on my 6 rigs together you MIGHT be at 10% of that weight reduction... I do NOT envy you rust belt guys... the newest rig in my fleet is an '03...

I'm more surprised the hood and plastic intake manifold are strong enough to hold with that setup :).

Looks like a good repair, I'm all for keeping stuff going! and as Robbie said, welcome!

Carefully inspect the frame.

The seams on the bottoms of the doors on my '21 are already rusting -__- lol.

^^ A) They're using extra weak metal. B) I suppose a hot oil treatment at the start of your '21's ownership would've helped.
Yes, I know people hat working on vehicles with it.

It’s like working in a dirty engine compartment with an engine that has a lot of oil leaks. Still better than having to replace a vehicle a lot sooner than it should because you did nothing to protect the vehicle from the salt and way better than rubberized undercoat that hides the rust until it’s too late to do anything to fix it.
