1993 Splash in SC

Gotta keep doing things the hard way...

Good thing you had spares!

...and many people think the 3.slow doesn't have any power. It'll break stuff just like all the others.

Replaced the wheel bearings and seals today. I probably had another 10 to 20 miles before I would have had serious damage to bearings, spindles, etc. I recorded the process and will try to do a how-to video for those who want to see TTB bearing reacement done.

Now I need to start watching my junk yards for more spare manual locking hubs.

Also decorated my other ride for the next week or so.

As dumb as people seem to be these days... I'd be concerned someone might take a few shots at you.

We've all been taking shots at him for years, he seems OK with it.

After a 40+ year career in military, construction and industrial maintenance, my skin is thicker than an elephant's. Take all the shots you want.

You say that like it's a bad thing...

You may have a sudden urge to pull out in front of a truck and stop in the middle of the road.

So. Not sure if I’ve mentioned it here yet, or not. But some days, when I first get in the truck. The steering feels like it’s locked in position. Can’t turn the steering wheel. After 30 seconds or more of trying to force it, it will break free and be fine. It has been happening more and more frequently. I also noticed that my power steering pump is suspiciously “not whining.” Seems to steer fine after I get it “broken free”.

So. Is it time for new power steering pump?Should I do the Saginaw upgrade? Is the upgrade worth the effort?

I had the same damned problem with mine. I discovered that the brake fluid level was low and that there were 2 very slow leaks in the brake lines. The problem disappeared after the repair was made.

How does low brake fluid affect power steering? On my truck, they’re not connected except for being bolted to the same chassis.
