What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Indeed, I’ve already managed to forget about it and get it smashed in a bad handshake and I’ve managed to whack it off things a couple times to boot.

Yep and you'll keep doing it until it's pretty much healed. Being that you gouged yourself with gloves on, you were really cranking on whatever you were working on.

Oh, I well know and I was definitely giving it a good pull, didn’t want it coming loose later, lol

Finally washed the Attica Indiana mud off of it. Father in law borrowed it to get a load of firewood.

Mechanics gloves. Ratchet slipped tightening one of the front axle bolts and I smacked it pretty hard, pulled the glove off and went well f*** me. Doused it in peroxide and wrapped a band-aid on it since it was leaking and I needed to step away before I smashed something because I had already thrown the ratchet. Peroxide didn’t hurt then but it hurt when I replaced the bandage when I was done. Should have taken a pic, peeled a chunk of skin probably at least 3/8” in diameter if not larger right next to the nail…

Son of a gun! I know how that goes. My right pinky nail has just about finished growing out from the last time I smashed it lol.

I cut grass part way around one, and put a battery charger on the other. Tomorrow I need to see about getting some plywood and possibly two batteries.

Need plywood to make platforms for my work ramps, got nothing but dirt as a work surface and the ramps I've got will sink right in. The 85 is close enough to the ground that I'm going to need ramps if I'm to have any hope of getting under it.

The 85 needs a battery because it didn't come with one, I've been using a battery borrowed from the 68 F-100 and I want/need to return it to that truck. Battery charger went straight into desulfation mode when I hooked it up on the 99, so it might need a battery too. Guess I should have expected that since I haven't touched that truck in over a year. Now that the weather has started cooling off I need to see about getting it cleaned up and running to pop a for sale sign in the window.

Didn't get to none of that today, but the battery was dead-dead. Wouldn't even run the desulfate mode on the charger. Guess I get to deal with that one day this week.

Hook a known good battery to the bad one at the same time, new charger dont seem to like having a totally dead battery to charge. This trick fools it.
The battery is probably hooped anyway but this way you can test it once its fully charged again.

Might try that. In series or parallel?

Of course! Brain fart, if I spent a second thinking about it it would have been obvious.

It's a 6v/12v charger. Two 12 volt batteries in series would make it 24v, no bueno! Two 12 volt batteries in parallel is still 12v, bueno!

I think I came up with my final rear bumper design. Still need to add a receiver and do a ton of fitment/prep but overall this is what It will look like.

Some footage of the green trails at Jericho Mt. State Park in Berlin, NH.

The plan is to go back before they shut for the year to get some much better video and do the bits of green trail we didn't get to on Saturday.

Super fun trails, beautiful location.

Worked a little on the green Ranger project, weatherman lied and said no rain, so I thought I was good, but nooo… turned out to be scattered showers all afternoon. At any rate I managed to get a few things done anyway. And I took a pic, which surprisingly makes the engine look tiny…

I’ve got all 4 shocks out of a first gen Raptor sitting in the garage, if that will help you.
I wished they would. I've been looking at the Fox's before they came out with the Tremor package. Was awesome to see Ford use them. That's like a 3k upgrade aftermarket

Got like 2 miles from work this morning and heard a bad noise up front... I'd been meaning to look into the shape of the front brakes but hadn't gotten that far... picked up some pads on the way home using the brakes as little as possible (interesting to do on a 30 mile drive through 2 cities and several sharp corners). I knew I had a spare rotor at home on the original drivers side I beam so wasn't too worried. Tore into the passenger side where the noise was coming from and sure enough there was like 1mm of pad on the outer and the inner had just gotten to metal in one spot, inner surface wasn't great so I cleaned up the spare rotor and got it on. Dug into the drivers side, got the caliper off and the pads weren't bad (used the ones from the donor I beam I'm pretty sure) but the rotor surface was almost as bad as the passenger side so just put it back together. Just ordered a new rotor so apparently I'll be doing that this weekend...
