86 Bronco II... G-Unit

My new fuel line connectors showed up yesterday... I finally think I have everything I need to do a clean re-route of the fuel lines.

Damn that's nice work. Like any good artist, you need to take a paint pen, and sign and date the top of that tank before putting it back in.

Where'd you get the tank grommet? I need a few dozen of those.

Well... got a day to play mechanic on the G-Unit. This first step is gonna hurt me more then it will hurt it...

I didn't even hear it whimper... might be due to the voices in my head saying... DON'T DO ITTTT!!!!!

I had the hole marked already. I went and picked up a m12 jig saw yesterday... my old tool shop jig self destruction working on the deck. With a Lennox metal blade it cut the panel out like butter.

The plan was to reuse the panel I cut out... flat steel and some U-nuts to put it back in place.

Drill some holes... love a uni-bit... put braces in place... drill the remaining four holes through the panel and braces.

Bolt the panel in with Phillips head machine screws.

Knowing how the pump goes in... I should honestly be able to change the fuel pump with a Phillips and a flat blade screwdriver. I guess I would need a hammer to tap the ring off... that or a decent rock would work in a pinch.

I'm gonna file and clean up edges and will just run a bead of butyl tape around the edge when I'm sure all my mods work.

Also going to grind the rough edges on my braces... then prime and paint them.

But for now... I'm gonna go stand in the corner and shed a tear over what I just did.

Nice work. I would suggest a flange of some type to seal the removable plate.

I bought a 10 foot roll of 1/8 inch x 2 inch wide rubber for insulator between the tank and straps. I had thought about using that to add a flange. But I think being above the tank and a good butyl tape seal around the edges... I'll be good enough.
