What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

If you can't find what you need, I have seen shifters made with a single piece of flat steel cut into kind of a boomerang shape. Shifter knob on one end and a simple slot on the other. Add hole the pivot point. You loose the pull left to go to 4-low, but the transfer case still has detents internally.

Changed the fuel filter in the red ranger last night. Looks like the PO had changed it regularly because when I tipped it over backwards brown sludge did NOT pour out.

Now I just need to find the actual reason it stumbles under heavy throttle. I suspect the cheap Chicom sender I put in less then a year ago, weak fuel pump not able to keep up. I may order another Walbro255lph pump and swap that into the chicom sender.

Also dumped some fuel injector cleaner in the tank, I don't expect that will do anything.

Traction/wheel hop solution arrived via FedEx today......

Looks like you have the entire place to yourself...

Everybody is on the other side. Big group in front of me. Not full but pretty decent crowd.they close the bathrooms for the season on Monday.

Judging by your mini two step ladder... you need to fab up a step to get in the camper.

I use to use a hitch hauler for the step with a small jack stand under it... I thought it worked pretty well.

Edit... but I did have it in a short bed truck... the tailgate served as a landing.

I’m diggin that setup! Did you have to do anything to the rear suspension?

Explorer springs (with new bushings and greaseable bolts) Belltech 6400 shackles and 4wd block delete. Also has Billistein shocks.

And then I mixed and matched parts with a Ranger and F-150 (because 31 spline 8.8) to add a rear sway bar, that is the only thing I specifically did for the camper. When "the camper package" included a rear sway bar... trust me, it wasn't the marketing guys blowing smoke. Night and day difference with the camper in the back and it handles empty much better empty too. I is a believer.

But yeah, it hurt my articulation offroad... so I updated to the ahead of axle front sway bar so I can just pull a link to go offroading.

I am not an expert and I never saw it from the outside but it seemed to handle really nice on the trailride, I could tell a difference compared to last year when I had both sway bars intact. In my mind it kinda balances it out, usually all a guy's flex comes from the rear axle, having the rear sway bar and no front kinda forces the front end to dance too.

I have kept an eye out for one, if nothing else for carrying firewood.

I have thought about snagging two big tractor steps from the JY and just making a two step that plugs in the receiver. My big bumper makes a pretty decent top step.

They make those receiver steps that might be a solution. One of those might work as is or maybe fabricate another step on to it. That way, it will just be something that you can plug in to the receiver and remove at will.

Something like this:

But a little more robust looking.

Probably next spring, it is hard to mock it up without the camper in the truck. Like tomorrow (camping again tonight) the camper gets kicked out of the truck so the topper can get out of the barn for my son's birthday party next weekend.

That is better than what I had in mind. I was thinking of the ones that have an open tube for a draw bar. But the steps on those are significantly smaller. So, what you posted would better.
