What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Broke the tailgate handle on the red one. I think I have a spare one around here somewhere.

Not as clean as it could be... but as clean as it is going to be.

So one of the Bronco's previous owners thought mounting an additional antenna directly in front of the driver was a good idea. Fortunately, one of the later owners realized this was stupid. I think I'll leave this repair because I'm not interested in learning to blend metal flake paint.

I started tearing down the 4.0, after a good soak in oven cleaner and some pressure washer fun, it was clean enough to work on. There was so much oil it could have funded a middle eastern country. I swear every gasket leaked. As I started in I was appalled by the amount of sludge build up, the intake manifold gasket had started disintegrating and was in peices laying on the block. I started to get worried about what I'd find, however once the heads were off, the cylinder walls were in really good shape, no cross hatching left though, than I looked at the cam, no overt signs of wear, and no heat damage, rods and crank all felt really solid.

$203.00 worth. I guess it was good luck that it broke close to home instead of 2 hours away.
You could have called, if I could have, I would have helped.

It’s appreciated. It was the middle of the work day and it was a puzzle even the flatbed driver had to work through a little. We got it figured out and it pointed out a weakness in my setup. Some eye bolts are going to be replaced with rated ones and shackles installed.

Hopefully the tongue never breaks again but there will be better options in the future if it does.

Ran around this morning grabbing brake parts for the GMC, filled it up, looked at a little 5x10 tilt trailer (no title and guy didnt tell me before hand) then met the old man for lunch.

That’s a dirt bag move. Unless you are only using the trailer on the property, what good is a trailer without a title?

That depends on the state... In NJ small trailers don’t have titles. You sell it with an old registration and a notarized bill of sale. The next owner just takes that to DMV and registers it in their name.

I threw a eggplant at mine. Both because eggplants are gross and it pissed me off...

Yup, small boats have no title either. Just bill of sale to register. My little 14 foot Jon boat and it's trailer has been in my possession since 1993 with no title for either and is 100% legal in NJ as long as they both have registration stickers. Your registration is your title.

Both were originally registered as 1972 models, when I had to redo them they asked what year and I laughed. Now they are 1993 models lol.

In SC, utility trailers don’t even need registration. It’s optional. I have a 6x10 enclosed trailer that has never been registered. For My 20ft car trailer, i bought a permanent registration so there are no questions when I take it out of state. One fee = registered for as long as I own it.

Don't you still need registration to get plates? No way you can have a trailer with no plates?

No plate on the unregistered trailer. This is cheap and convenient. But I’m not saying it’s a great idea. I can tow an unregistered open utility trailer with no lights as long as the tail/brake/ turn signal lights of my tow vehicle are unobstructed by the trailer or its load.
