What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Blmpkn

Thanks for the peppermint tip, I've seen it on tractor forums where guys in rural areas report mixed results. Worth a try, though.

Chapap,

The air intake on my '87 is by the passenger side headlight, behind the grille. Here's what I did;
64416

Today I learned they got in my '07's intake, too, there was a mummified infant mouse and some seeds and nesting. It has a round 2-1/4" intake, maybe 6-7" long. I cut a piece of hardware cloth 1/8" bigger in diameter, and carefully pushed it into the tube from the filter box side. If meeses push on it, it only gets tighter.

You could just put a snake in there... :dunno:

Plow ended up being a 7’6”. To big for the Ranger but the salt spreader itself was worth the $200.

Gonna power wash it and throw it up for sale or trade for a smaller blade.

Never in a million years would I have thought of that. There’s not enough room for a cat. You are genius.

Drove the 2019 to go camping. The trailer had other ideas. So, no more camping and AAA doesn't cover trailer towing even with Premier membership. I'm guessing they will want me to add RV coverage for that. That would have been nice to know BEFORE being stuck on the side of the road with an untowable trailer.

Damn how much does that little thing weight?!

About 1,460# fully loaded and I made sure the tongue weight was in the 10%-15% range as it should be. The trailer tongue upgrade is now going to happen sooner than later. I never liked how thing the metal was and that it wasn't a solid rectangular tube. It looks like it failed right after a welded in reinforcement tab.

The planned replacement will get rid of the extension joint so it would be a solid rectangle the entire length of the tongue. 2.5"x1.5"X0.125" hot rolled steel tubing.

His previous picture showed it loaded down pretty good.

Darn. That's a bad day.

$203.00 worth. I guess it was good luck that it broke close to home instead of 2 hours away.

Just took some pictures of it. Installed a pair of rock lights at the front end. Will be adding others later.

The rock lights.

View over the cab with headlights, fog lights, front rock lights and light bar all turned on.

I've only seen rock lights mounted on the sides before. Reason for them being in the front?

They should be mounted underneath. The idea is to give visibility around your wheels and endercarriage during night rides so you can see your wheel placement on rocks and "stuff". I'll be adding more once I get them ordered. I thought that lighting up the front wheels was the first priority.

Bad wording on my part. They were underneath but up in the fenders some how. In any case, they may have been doing the same thing you are but the way they took the pictures didn't explain it. Some also had "clearance" lights on the outside sides to make it easier to see along the side of the vehicle.

I think there's a big variety in installations out there. Some are aimed at being functional for trail riding. Others are fashion statements for mall crawlers and some are a combination. I'm aiming at night ride functionality. The lights I order next will be from DCS. They specialize in Jeeps and have kits designed specifically for particular Jeep models. Their lights fit into or mount in existing holes in the Jeep frame and bodies and they have pre-made wiring harnesses with weatherproof connectors, etc. I will just order some of their surface mount products and develop my own brackets and wiring. My goal is to light up what I need to see and try to keep the lights out of harms way.
