What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

This was a few days ago, for some reason I couldn’t add my photo. Anyways…. Driveshaft swap goodbye carrier bearing, hello 99’ aluminum shaft. Smooth as silk and just yanked the bracket.
99'....
That's gotta be the longest damn ranger in the world.
😋

went appliance shopping, dryer died this morning and I guess since the set was new in 2006 so its quite possible its time. Since the washer is the same age I figured I may as well bite the bullet & replace both. Hooked up the flatbed & went to town, can fit both in a longbed ranger but the load floor distance is better with the trailer. Ended up buying a set from lowes, had the dryer in stock but washer wont be in until thurs. Was incredibly hot today swapping out dryers and making a whirlpool pedastal fit a samsung dryer. (Bren’s whirlpool employee discount doent mean much when whirlpool stuff is so much higher than other brands) Have the old dryer in the back of the ranger now, from what I can tell the motor is bad.
Funny you mention dryers, my girls dryer stopped putting out hot air yesterday, so I took a look at it when I got home. I fixed a wire on it awhile back that melted and of course I popped the front cover and the replacement wire was scorched. Managed to cut out the bad section and rig a repair, then I went looking for a reason it’s burning wires. Well, the ceramic insulator was broken. So I rigged a repair using electrical tape to pad the ceramic insulator. I had the red Ranger but since it’s only been on the road since Sunday night, I haven’t put my usual tools back in and had to make do with what was available. Apparently I was successful though because it’s drying again.

Of course, that all prompted re-visiting my idea of putting together a standard tool kit for my trucks so I spent some time working on a list. Was going to try and pick out something to put everything in but I think maybe it would be smarter to get everything together and then find something that it all fits neatly in. Granted, the F-150 will keep it’s current setup, an old Craftsman 3 drawer toolbox in the one side box. I may do something different for the other trucks though.

Since I never did update, so I got the transmission back together Sunday night, road tested it, and been driving it since. Got done with the road test and everything around like 11:30. Spent the last two nights at my gf’s, came home tonight and tried charging the ac. Of course, the pressure switch apparently is bad, so I’ll probably pick one up tomorrow.

Put the new pressure switch in and now I have AC. Not as cold as I would like, but cold enough for now. Swapped it out in the store parking lot, lol. Not a minute too soon because there were dark clouds rolling in and it started raining before I got home but I was dry in the truck and cool.

Parked the Fun50 next to it.

Installed a pair of fog lights I had ordered a few months ago. Wanted to paint the brackets after I welded them on, but found out I was all out of my favorite black spray paint and primer. Didn't feel like (too cheap and lazy) going to parts store for paint. So I got out a disposable brush and a gallon can of black Rustoleum and did the whole bumper ( while installed. Did I mention being lazy?) So it would all look equally hideous.

Also picked up a chunk of T6061 aluminum bar stock to make some receiver hitch anchor points. I currently carry a whole steel draw bar with a giant D shackle on it that is big, bulky and heavy. I saw these other things at the overlanding challenge in March and wasn't willing to pay $80 for one. I got enough aluminum to make 2 for about $59.

What I bought.

Where did you get that front bumper, it would be a great match for my rear bumper.

Craigslist. It's from a Jeep. I made my own mounting brackets, strengthened the bottom and added the hitch receiver.

Cleaned the new seats and the floor. Need to pull the headliner and do something with that saggy thing. Probably super glue a rebel flag to it so i can get Dirtmans approval.

I live in the North...
Same

Pulled my new seats last night and deep cleaned them. Used tuff stuff, scrubbed with a nylon brush in my drill, and steam cleaned afterwards. Turned out better than I expected

Even the console cleaned up good and that thing was straight up nasty.
