What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

I had to order new gears for the D35 yesterday. The gears I originally ordered were for. LP D35. The company made a mistake and sent the wrong ones.

I’m impressed with Summit and scared because now I know they have a store an hour from my house…. lol

Like two months after my first roundup it hit me I had driven thru the town they are headquartered in... and didn't stop. I was bummed.

So there might be something going on with my clutch hydraulic system, I should bleed it this weekend... After the '97 sat all night I could barely push the pedal down this morning, it didn't release nice either (killed it) but after that it worked perfect? Must be an air bubble... don't know, I meant to look to see if there was a warranty on the master I put in in October...

I think you need to upgrade your light covers.

Tonight he is probably wondering how his carbon fiber wonder caught rust...

Drove it to work, then took the dog to the vet in it, then we picked up a previously enjoyed toolbox for it. After dinner I installed said previously enjoyed toolbox.

Sounds like it needs a good washing. You don’t know where it's been and what has been done to it.

Installed a pair of fog lights I had ordered a few months ago. Wanted to paint the brackets after I welded them on, but found out I was all out of my favorite black spray paint and primer. Didn't feel like (too cheap and lazy) going to parts store for paint. So I got out a disposable brush and a gallon can of black Rustoleum and did the whole bumper ( while installed. Did I mention being lazy?) So it would all look equally hideous.

Also picked up a chunk of T6061 aluminum bar stock to make some receiver hitch anchor points. I currently carry a whole steel draw bar with a giant D shackle on it that is big, bulky and heavy. I saw these other things at the overlanding challenge in March and wasn't willing to pay $80 for one. I got enough aluminum to make 2 for about $59.

What I bought.

What I'm going to make.

I just use a hitch pin for straps in receivers, works great, I save time by just leaving pins in everything I have that has a receiver... way less trouble than trying to get a shackle loose... That method won't work for a winch but there's other options for that... I see people doing all sorts of crazy stuff to put a strap on a receiver, but all straps I've seen both 2" and 3" all have a 2" wide loop that fits in a receiver perfectly and CANNOT fall out.

I've seen that done and my tree saver would fit. But my BubbaRopes don't fit that way.

Oh, yeah, a bubba rope definitely wouldn't fit. As long as you have a reason it works for me :). I just see stuff like that on rigs that never leave pavement, have a tent on their roof that's likely never been used (yet on the rig 12 months a year) and so forth. I bought one of the shackle mount deals from Harbor Freight a long time ago but it just sits in a pile of random other stuff now...

Oh, the clutch on the '97 is still doing clutch stuff just fine, I'll see if I can find the time to bleed it this weekend for good measure though...
