My 1996 Ford Ranger 4x4 (TRS-2) Re-Build


The deck length including the dovetail is 18-feet.
Now you don't need to buy a cot. You have an 18ft long cot to keep you off the ground.

That trailer should suit the needs well, nice and low, might be able to get away without ramps or maybe just normal driveway ramps. Has a reasonable amount of stake pockets which make nice tiedown spots for chain... That has good tiedown options, the 18' deckover trailer I have doesn't have much, there's 4 stake pockets but they're inside the deck and the sides are like 1' tall... sides are 1/8" plate but the two axle setup with 3 axle fenders make it awkward to tie things down in the middle...

Trailers make very nice work platforms when things break down

I use my flatbed as a workbench quite a bit.
 
I’d recommend carrying 2 spares... I’ve seen a blowout take out the other tire on that side plenty of times.

I’ve actually seen the first tire take out the second and third on an enclosed triaxle trailer.

3 axle trailers are HARD on tires, there's a lot of leverage there... just go overkill on tires, and trailer tires are better for trailers apparently at least in the 10-14 ply range... The furthest I've gone from home is like 5 hours with a trailer, and for a while I didn't even take a spare for the tow rig or trailer... but they're both 8 lug so I bring one spare now, and a compressor and plug kit...

Installed new parts on the Ranger. I noticed that the #2 and #5 spark plugs had quite a bit of oil around the threads when I removed them.

I only run 14plys on heavier trailers. Got tired of blowouts.
