What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Oh, yeah, a bubba rope definitely wouldn't fit. As long as you have a reason it works for me :). I just see stuff like that on rigs that never leave pavement, have a tent on their roof that's likely never been used (yet on the rig 12 months a year) and so forth. I bought one of the shackle mount deals from Harbor Freight a long time ago but it just sits in a pile of random other stuff now...

Oh, the clutch on the '97 is still doing clutch stuff just fine, I'll see if I can find the time to bleed it this weekend for good measure though...
I try to avoid gadgets I'll never use.

Auto lock smith came out today. I gave him the vin and he already had a key made when he showed up. (Wtf is wrong with the dealer). Key works.

Now I just need to bleed the clutch and put the dashboard back together......

Dude, that’s impressive! I’m curious how he was able to get the cut right, from the vin.

The dealer's key machine might not be calibrated right. Is this the one that worked in the door but not ignition? It probably wasn't too far from being right.

Charts and tables. The manufacturer knows exactly what cut the keys are for each vehicle. The vin is how all that data is tied together.

That’s pretty darn cool!

Aromatics? Did you have a bed full of manure?

It is based on a line from the move Cars where a rusty old truck is trying to impress a sports car...

Aah yeah, mater! It's been a few years since I've seen cars lol.

The guy said the dealer keys were missing two cuts....

HEY... I’ve used my roof top tent twice.

Excuse me sir, I think someone spilled a bucket of primer on your truck.
They clear coated it afterwards... that’s all that matters.

I did a thing.

Salvaging a rear frame clip to install on my 2001 Ranger. I'm going to have it sandblasted, then coat it in Cosmoline Black Rust-Veto 344, and install it.

I'm also salvaging the M5ODR1HD and transfer case out of the parts truck, but that will wait until next spring.

Thank God for loader tractors!! The old 185 made short work of dragging my parts truck out of the woods on flat tires, and removing the bed.
