Your Fiesta also isn't a truck/ truck shaped object.

Keep in mind that's 40 CITY mpg, only 33 highway mpg.

I thought he meant the Prius only gets 40mph, yes 40 is amazing for a small truck...

And why is the MPG backwards or was that a typo on your part? Never heard of something getting LESS MPG on the highway. :dunno:

Pretty sure a prius can go faster than that...

Probably gets less MPG on the highway because the aero dynamics become a much bigger factory then just rolling around in traffic.

2021 Prius, gets 58mpg city/ 51mpg highway. so maybe the electric systems are able to do most of the work at low speeds vs on the highway?

I have a coworker with an old 4cly escape that claims he gets worse mpg on the highway.

Kinda what I was thinking, the electric motor does stuff like starting off and going slow around town and then the gas engine kicks in when you need more oompf or get on the highway where the little electric motor just can't keep up.

I can't find any specifics but the Maverick hybrid combo sounds identical to what was in the Ford Fusion Hybrids which was a 2.5 duratec with a small electric motor that ran in tandem. 161hp gas engine and 30hp electric motor.

EDIT - Just found it....

The Maverick hybrid is in fact a 2.5 duratec...

ICE will have a minimum amount of fuel required to operate regardless of load/MPH, so tends to be more efficient at set higher load/MPH, i.e. highway speeds, and less efficient in city driving
The auto stop/start helps but low speeds are just not ICE friendly

EVs have no set minimum of "fuel" required so tend to be more efficient in city driving, and on the highway to maintain speed with wind resistance and rolling resistance the efficiency is less than in the city

Hybrid can combine the more efficient of the two, depending on city or highway driving

20 years and still using the ole Duratec... :icon_thumby:

Looks just like the Hyundai Forum I'm on. And the Toyota Forum I'm on. Both are Corporate sponsored sites that are not model specific, but has the exact same format. Hmmm, maybe Ford jumped ahead of @Jim Oaks on this one.

You go to other forums!? How could you cheat on us like that!?!

There isn't a section for Microwaves here.
This is all you need to know about microwaves...

Well you heard it here Jim, the forum needs a microwave section...
