Lifting my 97

I would have a small mountain of stuff if I collected all the D35 parts I have laying around!

I have a tendancy to let stuff get messy when in the middle of a project.

Hey Tim, least it's not my garage. We like to start the project messy :p

We demand more updates! It's 10pm

Not much progress worth mentioning.

Got the axle shafts all set up with full circle clips and ready to be tack welded.

I need to fight with with the radius arm crossmember to get it bolted up. The holes in the drop brackets dont quiet line up with the crossmember.

The coils came however!

I had an issue lining mine up, but I think its because it was bent to hell. pulling the bolts in the middle so each side was independent made it easy to work with.

Or is yours just not lining up at all?

I loosened the bolts in the middle, put the bolts in at an angle and caught the threads and let the impact draw it together.

These brackets are used and I can see where the PO did the same thing. Not that that is a good thing seeing as how he was running 38s on a D28 and 7.5..........:stop::badidea:

I got the beams back in. Still need to install the steering. Going to get my axle shafts tacked in a little bit. (I cant wait till I get a welder!:icon_welder:)

Got a little suprise for you guys... From what I hear, Tim decided to lower his 4wd.

I'll let him fill you in in the morning.

Ummmmm........Yeah.

Yeah, that really sucks...

Jackstands give out? Or did your shelter knock it off? Storm?

Storm.

That screen house canopy thing only weighs about 30 lbs.

The jack stands were fine.

I think that what happened was this: I had two bottle jacks under each beam to lift them a little. This took some weight off of the jack stands. A strong storm rolled in and the wind blew it over. Some contributing factors may have been soft/uneven ground under the plywood that the jackstands were on.

You can see here how the stand actually pushed through the plywood in one corner. That is the only thing that I could find.

I am going to let my thread in the general discussions section go for a while longer befoe answering.

UPDATE:

As of right now, the suspension is all back together and it is sitting on all 4 tires.

I still need to put the bed back on, hook up the trailer light wiring, add trailer safety chain attach points, bleed the brakes, fill the front diff with gear lube, Muddle around with the alighment, and pray that the 8" coils sag alot from where it is now when I move it around and stuff.

Just read through this entire thread for the first time and I must say I'm impressed Macguyver!

Good job! (I still wish I could weld)

My truck's up on jackstands right now. I'm taking that hybrid chunk out and selling it to someone. Just quit for the night. Hope my truck doesn't give...lol

Well I'm glad you got it back together, well mostly. Be sure to post some pics when all done.
