Lifting my 97

OK time for an update.

I picked up a pair of extended arms from Chico4554. I am putting them in with a 2" drop stock radius arm crossmember from an 89 STX ranger with the Highrider package.

Before I did that though I needed to flex the stock arms out.

One little problem. Easily fixed though. When I get a welder within the next two months I will build a crossmember that combines the radius arm member and the tranny member.

Bolted up with a Grade 9.8 bolt and a factory speed clip.

That's a pretty good idea. It'll double as a tranny member and radius arm member?

Yup. Just like the skyjacker and James Duff radius arm members do.

That's a nice concept. Looks like it's not at such a bad angle either. Do you think the stock member could be made to work? Or was it just easier to use the STX member?

When all else fails, get a big wrench and a big
hammer.

That's funny! I was just doing the same thing a couple weeks ago. What else are ya supposed to do when all you have is a wrench and no impact? lol.

I have an impact. Two actually. One is a Milwaukee V28 Cordless thats rated to 325ftlbs and most of the time that gets the job done. Then I have a snapon impact thats supposedly good to 500ftlbs.

Neither one would touch those bolts. Well not for the first 3 turns or so. I have yet to find something that my 4lb impact cant turn out or break off.

I chose the STX bracket to help with the caster as the extended arms did not have any built in.

Ahhh. OK.

Yeah those are tough bolts. I need some sort of impact. Once my student loans roll around a shopping expedition for some tools will be a must.

Those chevy leafs look real flexy. Bump stops anyone?

All looks great!

I have a Matco rated at 760 reverse ft. lbs. and 600 forward at 90 psi. pump it up to 120 psi and its close to 1000 ft lbs haha. i bought that baby for $350. i have yet to have a bolt i cant break loose and i work on cars all day long!! its a 1/2 inch impact also.

Well, More progress is being made! I am regearing my axles tomorrow. A buddy of mine worked at an axle shop and has done hundreds of installs. He is doing my axles in trade for a fender and a door. Going from 3.73s to 4.88s.!

I finally sold the 98 ranger in my signature. So I ordered one of these....

Handler 187. 220v mig, good to 5/16 steel. I can Arc weld decent if I need to weld bigger than that.

First two items on the list are rock sliders and struts to reinforce the outsides of my front bumper.

Then I will finish the doubler!!!!!!!!

Owning your own welder is sweet huh? I just need to get off my ass and build something!

Thats a sick build bro, I really wanna get some more cash saved up to get a decent start on mine. Im gonna PM you about those brackets too.

Then I am going to bend the frame back because it got bent near the radius arm member on the driverside. .
howed you do that at home?

200 bucks on an extreme pitman arm.
ouch, thats money for the parts to build a super runner.**** the super duper drop arm.

i have yet to have a bolt i cant break its a 1/2 inch impact also.
changed it for ya.i have one, mine will break most bolts if they don't give

Going from 3.73s to 4.88s.!
