Lifting my 97

i think he meant--the answer is all me.. so yea, with the shocks and swaybar removed its no problem putting the coils spring in..

it works for the same reason that you can put coils spacers on a truck with stock brackets, theres a bit of play in the camber/caster bushings (i have adjustables).. also the heavier extended cabs can stuff a longer coil in cuz they weigh more.

im really tired and having a hard time explaining--hope this helps.

No that does help. Thanks for the info. Time to go find some coils.

Ok, made some good progress today.

Most of the steel that I use has been picked up in my scrap metal travels. I found this big piece of 5/16 plate at the junkyard and paid $0.10/lb for it.

Got alot done today. Finished the bumper, moved the brackets for the 63" springs, extended the brakes line and mounted the shocks.

Ok, Got the rear all together. Its sitting on the tires now. I measure 8" of lift over stock.

I think that my rear shocks are too short. they are 2" longer than stock and I just added 6" of lift to what I already had.

Pictures and stuff later.

Thanks for the comments!

so you got 8" over stock from the spring and shackles? or are you including tire lift too? what size tires you running on there?

My measurement is from axle tube to frame.

I already had 2" of lift from a hybrid leaf spring pack that gave me 1.5-2" and eliminated the stock block. If they were used with the stock block, they would net 3.5-4" lift.

I swapped to a stock block (2.5") 63" chevy leafs from a 1989 C1500 and Beltech 6400 shackles. This gave me a total of 8" of lift over stock, 6" more than I had.

These measurements were made with out a bed or any tools in the bed so Once I add that weight, It will likely drop to 6-7".

I am going to be running 33" tires for now. All pictures up untill now have been with 32" tires.

Getting there Tim. You best have everything done by Mid-August :-p
