What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

My stock bolts were grade 9.8 which is between grade 5 and grade 8. Drilling a hole thru the center won't make them any stronger... so I erred on the side of caution and went with the grade 8 ones. Which are not cheap. Grade 5 is much cheaper but weaker to start with before they drill a hole thru them.

I think the ones I got are grade 8. I’m sure you paid less than I did.

Went to go install some offroad lights on my front bumper as fog lights. But since it's hurricane season in Florida it's hard to do anything without it raining. Drilled the holes into the front bumper and installed one light then the sky let loose....f**k. So since work layed me off I got the time to install the other one tomorrow I guess.

Well i got a second ranger to beat on while im rebuilding the other one

I finished up my fog lights today and my subwoofer was supposed to come today but was a no show. I'm very happy with my lights just need to finish up some things.

Last summer the roll pin for the gear on the distributor sheared off and I needed to be towed home. Well the operator didn't know how to keep the line low and scratched the hell out of the, at the time, 2 week old valance panel. So me in my glorious brilliance decided after I Iced my shoulder as soon as I woke up, today was the day to paint it again.

Who likes to watch paint dry? Well not me so I figured while I wait I'll buff out a few scratches that I got from driving over a bumper cover left in the road.

Then it was time for a second coat on the valance but again who likes to watch paint dry so I went out and got some spray on wax and waxed the truck waiting for the paint to dry.

So with a sore shoulder I still needed to put the valance on and low and behold one the bolts and clips tried to cross thread. I don't have a tap and die set but I did have an extra clip and bolt from the 2wd valance and used that. FWIW the 2wd valance uses more clips and bolts. And the results:

This weekend with kid around we will get it even with the bumper over the fog lights. Its really hard to watch it and tighten them bolts at the same time while being on the gound.

How did you make that float in mid air like that????

I meditated for and hour then used the force.... Yoda came to me in my dreams and tought me. 🤣🤣

In all seriousness 50lb fishing line around a tree limb does wonders. To keep it from swinging used fishing line and 2 long screw drivers for anchors out to the sides.

Through some rattle can flat black paint at the frame in prep of having the pictures taken. Tentative dates are June 25th or 26th to have the kids mom take shots of the truck. Then I'll send them in for selection for the calendar.

So far we have 3 spots in mind for the pics. The Greylock Glen, Whitcomb summit and the Wigwam Western Summit over looking Clarksburg/North Adams area. Links to each provided by clicking on each places names. Shots will be taken at all three places.

I guess I'll need to hit the driver side with the buffer to try to get out the scratches from a wrecker loosing a bumper cover and me driving over it and slapping the that side. Gosh that pissed me off when I ran that one over. It gave a crease just below the door handle and my paint less dent tools still have not arrived so its staying there for the shots. :dunno: Its a daily driver not a show truck.

Regarding the scratch, may be able to “buff it out” in Photoshop.
