What does a ranger bed weigh?

I want to make it so my flat bed ends up being ~200 pounds or so heavier than the factory bed. It'll ride nicer on the road, won't need to add weight for winter, and it'll help with traction off road.

Anyone know FOR SURE what a regular bed weighs?

I want to agree with @Dirtman but I think it might be a bit more. It depends on the bed. My short stepside bed can be lifted by one person. It's heavy and awkward, but can be done. So I'd guess in the neighborhood of 100#.

It also depends how far north you are. Beds weigh less the farther north you go...

A bed in southern texas will weigh significantly more than a bed in northern maine.

Just build a 200 lbs bumper, that plus whatever your flatbed weighs should be plenty

I'd guess around 140-175. Two people can easily move a 6' regular bed. I don't know if a step side bed would weigh more or less since it's part fiberglass. Rusty's got the most accurate way so far.

Step side bed will weigh less than the fleet side bed due to the bed being smaller, skinnier, and the use of fiber glass. Fiberglass weighs less than steel and is the reason for its use in body panels like fenders, hoods and pre-runner bed sides to lighten up the vehicle.

While I have not put my bed on a scale my guess is that you are looking at around 250 pounds for a southern bed. This had been a discussion I have had with friends and there belief for the ranger fleet side bed was around 300 pounds or so. If you have the option to do so go with Rusty's suggestion of weighing it before and after removal.

If you have the old bed you could cut it up, weigh it and add 25 pounds for rust and cutting weight loss.

I'm in this boat, gotta be in the 150lb range, probably 175 with tailgate

I've taken mine off and put it back on by myself. Wasnt pretty, but got it done. It's around the 150-200 mark.

Just make pipe bumpers and fill with water as needed.

A stock Ranger bed weighs 200 pounds less than the flat deck that you want to build.
