Coronavirus

Yes, public touch screens are a whole new issue, they often won't work with gloved finger or other inanimate object :)

Use car keys to press buttons on key pads, you almost never put car keys in your mouth, lol
Unlike pencils or pens :)

I was feeling all proud of myself for thinking to use my truck key for the card machine buttons at the grocery store. Then as I waited for the receipt I caught myself scratching my ear with said key...

I am so good at this stuff. :sneaky:

Even if you don't touch your face directly, your hands grab the keys all the time as they're in your pocket. I don't see that as a very useful solution.

You should be WASHING your hands when you get home or whenever possible, so touching the keys is not an issue
And if you touch your nose or mouth without washing hands then you could get infected either way, using finger or keys on a keypad

Putting the keys in your ear.............well that wouldn't infect you but could make you deaf, if you pushed hard enough :)

Penis Broken... Ouch.

Use finger... Too many jokes.
I believe it says “pen is broken, please use finger”...
You sick bastard.

I use cash and dont take the change... no touching the dirty penis machine needed.

I wiped it on my jeans first so I was probably ok. :icon_thumby:

My concern was washing your hands after you'd handled the keys, but then putting hands back in pocket and forgetting. Maybe not an issue for most people, but it's the kind of thing I'd screw up.

Biggest thing is washing your hands and one thing many forget.................
You turn on the water with dirty hand(s)
Then wash hands
Then turn off water with clean hand(s) which can pick up virus from the dirty tap...............
Wash handles with soapy hands or use paper towel to turn off taps
The soap is what rips the envelope of a virus, making it inert, virus aren't "alive" so can't be "killed" but if their outside case/envelope is ripped open the insides become in effective in invading a host cell

In all seriousness I was hitting the grocery store on the way home from work, no more stops. So my thought was use the tip of the key for a much much smaller surface area contact. Like 1/16" diameter vs 1/2" diameter. Then leave key out (touching only the big plastic end) until I get to the truck. Then it rides home in the ignition switch. Then it goes in my coat pocket all night. By the next time I actually touch the keys the next morning it would be past the virus's shelf life.

But the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry...

nobody has invented a click top pen style stylus for avoiding touching screens yet?

I have had a few sample ones over the years but they never stick around because:

A. I don't have touch screens at work
B. The pen part is usually junk

Ordered one.

That was REALLY grossing me out. Now if someone would only invent a one-time QR code I could use for payments so I didnt have to touch the card to the machine. Apparently this thing can live on leather for five days.
