Since my 16 F150 is at Ford dealer getting the half ass repairs taken care of that the first dealer screwed up, they gave me a loaner 2020 Explorer today with 700 miles.

Has the 2.3 EcoBoost and the 10 speed trans. Glad they went back to rear will drive. I couldn't imagine being happy in something this big and front wheel drive.

Too bad they managed to screw that up too.

The suspension is screwy, uses split control arms with independent cast in ball joints, like the Fusions used to have, everything is crammed in with no room to work, and the transfer case drops to the wrong side.

I don't honestly think I would want one in 4 wheel drive. Don't think it is getting far with it! It is a far cry from the original explorer, but it is a decent option for a family hauler.

The Explorer has been ruined for anyone who is interested in anything more than a gravel or dirt road. It's pretty much just a big cross over now. JM2C

It is slightly less crossover than it was 11-19, RWD gives it a few brownie points recently.

IMO ‘11+ is a minivan with hinged rear doors.

As times have changed, the demands of the marketplace on ford have increased markedly. They recognize that competitors operating at world-class levels of performance - in quality, cycle time, cost efficiencies, and new product development - are a likely part of the future of the explorer. Ford is now better able to understand the importance of its customers' needs, and quality has a new meaning. To become a world-class company will demand flexibility, teamwork, competencies, and focused improvements that theg would have found nearly inconceivable a few years ago; and it won't be possible without the full involvement and engagement of every person in the company. World-class companies have recognized that effective leadership and management of people is absolutely critical to achieve the high levels of quality and customer satisfaction they need to compete in today's market. A company's employees are viewed as a valuable source of competitive advantage, and managers assume responsibility for designing optimal structures, systems, and practices. The following human resource policies are practiced by world-class companies: People are strategically important to the company's competitiveness. A work environment based on a set of shared values is a key element to improving quality, innovation, and productivity. Integrity is fundamental. People have a shared destiny with the company. Human resource systems and practices are designed to promote competence and commitment. This explains the Ford explorer.

Dirtman, you cut and pasted that from somewhere, didn't you? Either that or someone hacked your account...

Tha sounds like an annual pep talk from upper management to all Ford employees.

Trust me. we get the same kind of speech every year here at BMW. Sometimes several times a year. Translated from German, of course.

You're at BMW....

?

Some of these new fords ive had up on lifts escapes, explorers, and Taurus. I think are going to have some serious rust problems with the rear subframe they are only 2-5 years old and are really rusting around the welds and where control arms are mounted. Maybe @adsm08 has a more valid opinion but it doesn't seem like they are going to last 15-20 years.
