I finally got to use my dash cams for more than just downloading hilarious clips of terrible nj drivers.

I took my neice to the movies last night to see her dumb avengers nonsense. The theatre parking lot is sketchy so I turned my dash cams on manual record while we were in the theatre. Sure enough I come out and someone had stolen the homemade bed divers out of my truck. They were just some freaking painted 2x6's for god sakes. But the front and rear cams caught the guys face, his plate, and the truck he took off in lmao.

I debated calling the cops because honestly I doubt they would even care about some rednecks wooden bed parts. I figured since I have the theifs info I could at least just call and ask if I could email the videos to someone so I did. They actually sent a cop out, and he took the info and had me give him copies of the video.

I figured thats the end of that, no one is going to hunt down my crappy stuff. But 7am this morning a cop knocks on my door and says we got your parts back sir. Both my dividers were in the back of his car. They said they caught the guy and charged him with auto burglary. Nice!

so the police spent the night tracking down 30$ worth of wood. There were also 2 shootings in my town last night but I guess my crime seemed easier to solve. :icon_rofl:

shootings,,,meh, happens every day. even here in Toledo

stealing lumber, hey, who knows further mayhem those boards could be involved with.

Yea there's shootings every night here too. No one cares... just gang members killing each other. The police focus on texting and driving, parking violations, and obviously petty lumber theft.

3 hours of nonsense I didnt understand in a hot, packed movie theater is not my idea of "awesome". Add to that they ran out of food... no fries, no chicken tenders, not even one old hot dog. Just soda and candy.

Yea, pretty sure shooting a gang member is only a $45 dollar fine...

What cam system did you use?
Front and back view?
How are they/it mounted?

It's nothing fancy, one of those chinese amazon mirror mounted ones with the LCD screen built into the mirror. I think the brand is "SENDOLV"?

It has front and back, both record simultaneously. The rear cam is suppose to be a backup cam but I mounted it on the back glass to work as a rear full cam. The rear cam runs constantly but if you tap one of the wires to the reverse lights it will automatically show the rear cam on the LCD screen on the mirror. I also have it on a switch to either come on automatically when the truck starts, or bypass it to run constantly when the truck is parked.

I've had it for 2 years now and it works great. Takes 1080p wide angle video on the front and somewhat crappy VGA video on the rear. Think I paid $150?. The mirror is actually nice since its bigger than the factory mirror and it just straps around it.

The only thing I dont like is that everytime it comes on it goes to the options menu on the mirror, you have to manually turn the menu off every time you drive so you can use the mirror. I'll take the sd card out and see if I can upload the video to show you the quality. Has good night vision both front and back.

Sometimes people don't report small thefts, but small crimes sometimes uncover larger crimes.

Well...that part.

It's the idea of the thing, not the value of the item. He deserves whatever they throw at him.

Also, a movie theater hotdog might not be the best idea..

Yes, the dollar amount is not the big thing, theft is theft and as the thief gets more convictions the courts can put them away longer and longer, career criminal status

"Public Service" shootings(gang members) are OK but the problem is that most of these shooters are NOT good shots, and can use automatics which are by design not very accurate, quantity over quality firearms :)

If not addressed "innocent bystander" injury or death will be result down the road

Automatics are really rather rare contrary to just about every tv show.
