PlumCrazy's F-1Fiddy Build

Upon closer inspection....I have decided that the cap is a POS...the roof is bowed enough to let water pool on top..no big deal, but then it seeps into the holes/cracks in the fiberglass I found when I cleaned it up, then it leaks inside. This old cap it glass over wood construction, so the wood inside the glass is all water logged and heavy, making the sagging issue worse. I think I will keep looking for an aluminum cap that I can install/remove by my self, and store easier since I could stand it on end with out cracking it.lol

Update is available....

Picked up a few goodies this weekend and worked on getting everything ready to wheel next weekend. Had to swap to my floppy trail mirrors, change the tcase and doubler fluid, and throw the hydro assist on the Ranger, put a new tire and light plug on the trailer, and I put a brake controller in the OneFiddy

Nothing fancy, hell its the first functional brake controller in any truck at the farm...lol

And then there was an impulse buy..

Saw it sitting along the road with a faded For Sale sign and low balled him, he said yes.lol

Needs a little TLC, but overall its pretty solid and has wheel wells that match the 80-86 profile pretty well.

That body is a great idea. Plenty of room to store parts and tools for the trail rig.

Id rather have a mini truck service bed for the Ranger.. A couple pieces of heavy angle for sliders and boom, Id have a solid bed to rub trees with and not crumple like foil.

Picked up a mint OEM core support for $50...beats the normal going rate of $500-$700.

Finally put up the lift at the Farm...

Found my lower ball joints were not soon hot. Silly Ford made these older 1/2 tons backwards....pressed into the beam and tapered on the knuckle/spindle. Still pretty easy with a c clamp type ball joint press.

Heard noise coming from the bell housing the other day.......found this when I pulled the inspection cover... Looks like a tag or weight that was spot welded to the TC?

Turns out I didn't have valve chatter at higher rpms....it was just shrapnel in my bell housing all along.

Between this and the random broken snap ring I found in the trans pan when I bought it. ...I have decided to put a ZF 5 in this pig ASAP.lol. Still shifts like a dream and acts perfect..... But makes me nervous on my 1K round trips to NY every month.

Hate to tell you, but they still do it that way.

Our 94 350 is the other way like the 4x4s and Rangers

Test fit the HB to the bracket...I was pleasantly surprised to find the booster bolt pattern was the same. I will need to move the pin on the pedal up about an inch though.

I should have just about everything else for the swap this weekend..minus a flywheel.

Went to the Carlisle Truck Nats this past weekend with 036speed. Inspired me to get cracking on the ole fullsize...

Met OneBadEx there and came home with this little fella and some goodies to go with...

All I need now is a 5.0 flywheel, and a driveshaft. I also need to figure out what do with the speed cable since the ZF if for a newer truck that used the ABS wheel speed sensor.

Right before we left I we made a quick stop at a Bullnose gold mine..lol

I snagged a straight rust free bed and possibly committed to buying a full 1 ton rolling chassis with cab.....

Once I find a set of street tires to DD the Ranger on...I will get started on the ole OneFiddy..

and lowered 4wd dually attempt, here we come

and lowered 4wd dually attempt, here we come

YES!...Ill do it if you do.lol We can both look like fools unloading our wheelers to pull our tow rigs out of the parking lot...

MOAR PARTS..

Cleaned up the rubber floor Nick gave me...good thing I got it, because the ZF trans tunnel cover has a huge bump in it to clear the trans and the carpet has to be formed to allow for clearance. Not to mention my current rubber floor is dried out and super brittle
IMG_20140810_192934_172_zpsc9405a04.jpg

I snagged a ZF cover at the junkyard, but the trans was already gone...

It turns out the auto 80-86 trucks have no access panel in the floor at all, so when the time comes..Ill have to get the saw out apparently.lol
