Project SVT


I'm not quite ready for that. I just got that Dana 44 swap in there and I'm not goin wild with that truck to where I'll need a 60 till after Germany. But hey! If you wanna ship it I'm not gonna stop you!

This is the last pic I got of SVT right now, this was back in July, he's not road worthy yet, but he runs and drives. Not any progress, but I guess I can update. I'm not happy with the front suspension at all. Running airshocks with a tracbar and my driving style just don't mix. I drove it on the road for about 100 feet and thats all it took. I gotta say though, I'm loving the superduty brake system on it. I could lock up the 47's with ease!
With the multiple projects going on around the shop, SVT patiently awaits another major phase of the build, new redesigned frame, new 6 cow axles (beefier just doesn't say it well enough), and an upgraded engine and trans. I'll probably hold off on the engine and trans til last, which will come back to bite me, I know it will. I'll be going with a teksid motor (all aluminum 4.6 DOHC motor [96-98 cobra] and maybe a supercharger on top) and either the 5R110 or a 6R80. Still need to research the trannies a little more, but that's the wishlist. I might have the new axles by Valentine's day, we'll see...

I would rather have the5R110. The 6R80 isn't bad but it is big and still has new trans issues. The 5R110 is torqshift guts in a 4R70 case.

True, but the 6R80 has a better first gear from what I've read. I may end up going with the 5R110 just out of availability...

Dude I really like your other ranger! That is the kind of stance I want on my pickup! How much over all lift do you have on it? What size of tires are on them? what kind? I really like it!

That's hard to say. I've never measured at stock height, and it hasn't been at stock height for 10 years. It's got a narrowed high pinion king pin 60 from a 91 F350, 16" fox air shocks, and 47" Michelin tires...
What about a zf6 for behind the 4.6?

That could be an option if I wanted a standard, but for offroading I prefer automatic...

Nope, that's John's (railman) truck. His and mine are almost identical, with our vins differing by only 3 digits. Coincidentally, he lives only about 70 miles from me, and we've gone wheeling numerous times together...

What he really means is, he was occupying cab space in Railman's truck! :icon_surprised:

I think SVT's truck finally needs dedicated as Art! The yard or garage variety. If I remember correctly the last time it left the yard it was so homesick, it went right back and has stayed there since! Oh except pulling that trailer queen duty you recently seen a picture of. If he makes it ART, someone will buy it and pay an ungodly amount for it, people do that with art! :icon_idea:
