Settled on going with explorer leafs to replace my flat ranger leafs.

What size shocks will I need? Will they have to be longer?

You will need to see it at full drop and measure no one can measure that for you

They'll bring the truck up 1-2" so you can run the stock shock since it's not much of a difference or get something rated for a small lift. all in all it depends what it's for ^^^ he's got it right about full droop but if it's staying on the road it won't affect driving at all. those springs are stiff in comparison so don't expect a smooth ride

Might look at the ranger edge rear shocks. I don't know if they are longer but my edge had a rear block where the xlt does not have a block to my knowledge. I just don't know if they did a different shock or not.

well i need new shocks all around. as well as leafs. i do a lot of high speed gravel driving. with bumps etc. ive also been known to catch air in my truck lol. maybe some bilstien 5100's would fit the bill?

and ive heard explorer leafs give a smoother ride?

well there's 2 sets of expo springs i've seen in the jy. the sport pack is only a main leaf with essentially blocks in place of the others which is probably the smoother ride you've heard of. the standard pack has 4 leafs and is stiffer than ranger springs. 5100's are probably the best you can get without getting a 2.0 or something bigger. I ran expo leafs and 5100's in my last truck and it got the job done but it was too stiff when it came to the track and bounced more than i'd like but worked better than ranger springs none the less for how cheap they were

The edge is just a 2wd with the height of a 4x4 isn't it? 4x4 rangers have a 2 inch rear block that normal 2wd models don't.
