Ya, I have a BS in EE and a BA in Math. I work as an automation engineer for a small engineering division of a union electrical contractor. My strength is programming, but those are rare projects. I do a lot of specification for industry. Read specs, picking the components, assembling the project in my mind, and then putting it all on paper so an electrician can actually assemble it. I do work for 2 steel mills and 2 refineries at the moment.

Ya, I have a 14 mile round trip and I go home for lunch and keep my dog company. Just bought a house near the city, but doubled my drive (32 mile round trip). I can't afford to buy a house near my work. Way too pricey :annoyed: I want to move back to country, but my girlfriend works at a hospital and she has to remain within a 30 minute drive. Plus, they are paying for her nursing school and that is near the hospital.

Programming... EWW. You EE guys. One of my best friends is an EE. The things you guys like to do haha.

Thats awesome she is a nurse! Even better that her schooling is being paid for by them. I am jealous. I am going to be paying back these student loans forever.

Lol. Some the things ME's get to do looks awful. Programming is fun lol. No one bothers me at all, i just do my thing and then go home.

Lmao. One of my best friends is an ME (current roommate), in college I shared an apartment with 3 other MEs, and my other best friend is a Architectural Engineer. Weirdly enough, everyone's name begins with a "J".

She is a surgical tech right now and currently enrolled in a nursing program. She still has debt from her degree, but its much less than mine. Right now, I am on track to pay mine off in 8 years. But I am paying your gas money in student loans. Our gas only runs us a cool $400 a month :icon_thumby:

I'd kill for 6 acres and a 8 car garage. We just bought a nice little ranch home with 0.25 acres and a 2 car garage. The house is very updated which is nice, but I would've liked more space. my aunt and uncle own a 225 acre farm in my home town. I'd like to buy 10 acres or so off them and build a house once the loans have vanished. I also don't want to think about kids until the loans are gone. My doggy daughter is enough for now :icon_twisted:

haha. good old engineers...

That 10 acre lot would be perfect! I grew up on a 10 acre lot.

I was on a good track to get my student loans paid off. We wanted to kill them in 5-6 years. I was slamming the hell out of them. Then were were going to start our family. Well, surprise! The family part started 4.5 yrs earlier than planned :D Instead of slamming loans, I now send daycare a check and buy diapers :icon_thumby:

I know what you mean. Even though the loans aren't disappearing as quickly as you'd like, at least you can support your family :icon_thumby:

:icon_cheers: to that. I am quite proud of that. I had to sell my fancy fast diesel, but thats life. No big deal.

Once my close friends start dating and buying houses, they will figure that out. For now, I roll around with them in their $900/mo trucks that have the $12k side-x-side on the trailer out back, while my paid off diesel sits at home in MY garage next to my wheeler :thefinger:

Lol. I've always wanted a big fancy diesel, but I'd never pay for one. My mortgage isn't even $900 a month! :icon_rofl:

Exactly!

And you would be surprised. I thought I wanted one too. I have had 2. One was a Duramax. It was fast. Got 8 pts on my license from it. Sold that because I couldnt keep the IFS together. Then I bought a superduty. Put tons of money into and that cut the reliability factor in half. Now I have this clean, slow, low buck, bone stock 97. I love it more than the other 2 combined and I wouldnt hesitate to drive it 4000 miles tomorrow. Maybe I am just growing up. Thats what my dad says lol.

I love my Superduty, but it needs some work. I never go to crazy, but there is always something I want to change. Maybe one day, I will reach your level of wisdom! :icon_rofl:

HAHA. I woudlnt go that far. I love my Ranger more than any vehicle. My family and wife do not understand why haha. I need to take her dad out wheelin one time so he understands. Probably should make him buy a pair of boots and a hoodie first. His cloths wont do well out on the trails.

My family feels the same way... they will never get it :D

I love my idi but i do want it faster.... i got lucky my gf completely understands why i love wheeling so much and wouldnt let me sell my reg cab ranger so i could build it for her.

Ill never never never buy a new vehicle again. I still owe 10g on a truck that i havnt had in almost two years and was the biggest piece of shit ive owned to date

My GF loves the quad. I haven't had her out in the Ranger yet. It's on the todo list if I can ever finish the damn thing.

What the hell happened that makes you still owe 10g on a truck you haven't had in 2 years???

Bought an 06 f150 for 13g had it paid down to 8g with 10 months then got fed up with it. Had to do the front brakes (even though they were supposedly done when i bought it) did the rear brakes on it. Alternator, starter, battery. Then it started burning 4litres of coolant a week. Got pissed off and dumped it for 4g and bought my 1991 f350 cclv for 6g. Had to refinanced my loan to do that which brought it back up to 10g. Then i bought a house and cant make 5-600 payments anymore to get it paid off quick.

Single stupidest thing i ever did was buy that f150. When i went to trade it in on my f350 (keep on mind its a 91) they wanted to give me $800 for the 2006 f150

Nice :icon_rofl:

I am from a town of 1500 people. It has 2 traffic lights. I'd call it a small town. My girlfriend is from a town of 111 people. You can only see one house from her dad's place and horse and buggy are a common sight. She is from a really small town. They have 2 stop signs :icon_rofl:

That is very unfortunate...
