Twister 85 B2 Build

Yup, kinda sucks when you think your truck is in pretty good condition till you really dig in to it, only to find its hidden secrets lol :D

Like half an hour into my swap I put my thumb through the cab corner as I was getting back onto the creeper after I wrangled the t-case out and was going back in for the trans. I thought the cab was pretty good before that. Kinda had to step back and ponder, "dang do I keep going?" Luckily (I guess) you can't see it with the door shut so I just try not to look at it.

I've been wrenching more to keep my mind off of it.

That really helped me, I had a pretty rough year when I did my swap. My aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer and my brother was diagnosed with Leukemia within a couple months of each other. So far they are both still doing ok. It really helped me to have something I could actually fix at the time because otherwise it is a pretty helpless feeling.

Sorry about your grandmother.

I figured, I've gotten this far might as well keep going, the far rear one seems to be the only mount that is messed up.

Our family friend of 23 years was diagnosed with leukemia 3 years ago, he is doing OK, but he is extremely secretive about it, which sucks.

Well i got the driver side body bushings and body lift pucks in, i started on the passenger side but i ran out of nuts and the very front bolt will not come off at all, i tried 3 different impacts, a sawzall and a angel grinder (angel grinder bit into the body mount so i stopped using it) :annoyed:. Will it hurt anything if i leave the one side with blocks and not the other? Plus, the PA instructions for the body lift are terrible. The kit came with 8 bolts of one size and 2 longer ones, where do the longer ones go?

It will look really stupid with one side of the body 2 or 3 inches (depending on what you have) taller than the other and will probably be really hard on the bodymounts with all the weight on one side of them.

Its been awhile since I did mine but I think the long ones went on the front. I may be off and they could be somewhere else on a BII though...

I meant will it be ok if I leave it for a day it two, not permenently lol

Got the lift about 99% put on, i figured out the long bolts go on the very rear, i just need to get some lock tite for the bolts and wangle the far rear lower bushing and nut and washer on.

Here is what is left of the old bushings:

But i got a problem with the far rear passenger side mount, well a problem with the lack there of.

There should be metal there :shok:. I have thought about putting a metal plate of it, but wanted some input.

Here is a pic of one of the mounts with the block, i cant seem to get some of the block to line up with the bushings, some are pushed slightly over :icon_confused:

What about puting a piece of square or rectangular tube in place of the part that's rusted out? Get a foot of it, cut to length, drill a hole where it needs to be then put it above the body lift.

Hmm didn't think of that, that could work

I got a patch panel made and put on for the far rear passenger side body mount. Hooked the tranny to the engine and went to put it in, the lift made a scary loud pop so i let it down and said i was done for the night :icon_rofl:. I need to have someone else there to help me lol

Lube all the joints on the lift and be sure to check all the bolts, chain, etc..

I don't think it was anything serious, but my engine and tranny were about 5 ft off the ground. I was scared it was going to fall and break something lol

I had mine the same height. Grade 8 bolts and over kill chain should do. I used two bolts at opposite sides and linked them together with chain and put my engine and trans in at the same time.

Your almost there, set the engine in for good and get your v8 rbv badge.

Progress on her? You left us hanging too, right to the good part and you stopped.

Well I got the body lift all done, am planning on putting the engine and tranny together tomorrow, setting it in the truck and drilling slotting the crossmemeber, but I was borrowing someone else's lift and he took it back. He said I should be able to have it back on Friday but not till like 6. I may pick up a Crane from HF to get all that done tomorrow then take it back lol

Question slotting the crossmember. How far am I going to want to slot, is there a general length or is that on of the things that varies between swaps.
Sent from, wait how did this get here?

It varies. Where i thought my slots were needed, it ended up putting the engine more forward then i wanted but somehow made my stock crosd member line up to the factory frame holes, which i still need to remake.
