1993 Splash build

I am rocking a spool up front as well, I just only lock one hub in the snow.

I think I'll just go w/ a Grizzly up front.

I'm going to be gusseting the inner axle C's tonight. I'll post up pics when I'm done.

Only one way to do it properly I suppose...

Brad, you're at a place where you can do some measuring. Everyone says the Ford 1/2 ton flat tops are too thin to drill/tap for high steer, but after looking at my 79 1/2 ton knuckles, and then looking at my 77.5 3/4 ton knuckles (particularly the driver side thats already drilled, tapped, and studded) it looks like they are the same thickness. I haven't pulled my knuckles yet to verify, but can you?

I don't need to. I can answer it without looking it up. The 3/4 ton "flat top" knuckles are IMHO, too thin. Now, I know that the driver side is already drilled/tapped for high steer but by looking at them, they are significantly thinner than the Chevy flat tops. I personally wouldn't run them. As for the 1/2 ton knuckles, it's out of the question. They're even thinner.

Here you can see the differences. See the "bosses" cast into the F250 knuckle? That's what makes then slightly stronger.

Hmm, The only place the Ford knuckle doesnt have reinforced is at the bottom of the threads, the "boss" as you call it, but I can add material in this area if that is all there is. What this will be going on (HWW) will only see 36's anyways, nothing larger. I might just leave the 1/2 knuckles and drill them out, and get Ballistic's tapered adapter to flip the tierod to the top side. Not planning on a large amount of lift, and not a large amount of flex (using the 6.5" rough country coils you mentioned earlier), so that should be ok...

Look at the comparison photo's. There's not enough meat on the top of the knuckle to put a 3rd stud. It is HIGHLY warned NOT to use the 1/2 ton knuckles for high steer.

I wasn't clear enough about the 1/2 ton, my fault. I was talking about not using the high steer arms on those knuckles and drilling out the stock tie rod mount so I can flip it to the top side of the knuckle....lol

AH gotcha! That's what I did when I SAS'd my F150. Worked perfect.

Got a new set of D44 radius arms coming from Legoms. Mine had two different thicknesses on the threaded part, making the bushings sit at different locations.

Brad, do you still have 2 sets of ra caps?
