1993 Splash build

You can buy those adapters for $20-30.

Not without modifying the shit out of them. Bolt pattern and placement are wrong.

The big differences between the Ford Saginaw and the Chebby is as follows
-Reservoir shape/ return barb placement

-Fords use an adapter block with a banjo bolt to angle the pressure outlet to the side

-Fords use a straight press fit input shaft

-Fords have a higher factory pressure setting

-Fords came with the adapter for mounting bolts

I had a 68 Camaro pump that had the same shape resi, but the return hose barb was in way for mounting the banjo fitting. The pump housing and rotating group was the same as my T Bird pump, but everything mentioned above was different.

There is a right up for a " no modification Saginaw pump install" but its not a Saginaw pump.lol

Parts stores list it as a replacement pump for the Saginaw, but its just a stock pump. It will bolt straight into a RBV, because its the same damn pump.lol

Since the Saginaw is not available anymore the standard duty Ford pump is used as substitute from 99% of Parts stores because its interchangeable fitmit wise.

Its our fault its not available as a reman.lol. Everyone bought them and turned in a stock pump as the core leaving them short on Saginaw pumps to reman.lol

Unfortunately, that's true. But, it is what it is.

I think I literally bought the the last one available through all the autoparts stores. I tried to order another one a week later, and all the stores I went too showed no availability in the country.lol.

I have one sitting on my workbench that needs rebuilt, but did not come with the adapter or reservoir

I have seen then resi on eBay before. Do you have the block for pressure hose and banjo bolt?
-PlumCrazy

Nope, just the pump itself.
Was planning on running a remote reservoir and just get the psc one.

Is your drilled and tapped steering gear a reman. you bought, or did you have one off a rig and rebuild it? I was looking on rock auto and they are $100 reman.

This is the OE gear box off of my '93. I don't know if you've looked at the writeup here on TRS of the steering box rebuild, but the piston is MUCH smaller in some of the boxes than what I have. I don't know if that makes a difference, but it's something lol. Another thing I noticed is the "rebuild" writeup is incomplete. They don't replace the bearings and they don't take apart the worm gear to replace the tephlon bushings.

And yea, a remanned is only $100. It would be a good idea to grab one and just unbolt everything (keeping the preload on the adj. screw of course) and just drill/tap that one.

The one in the writeup:

Something to think about. Brad, how much are the rebuild kits? Do you know or have you priced the rebuild kit for the 79 box or know what the remans cost for those? I haven't even thought of looking at the prices yet...

SVT

Rebuild kit cost is $40 shipped WITH new bearings and APARENTLY RockAuto has the same rebuild kit part # listed for a 78 steering gear rebuild kit AND a 92 steering gear rebuild kit BUT broncograveyard.com lists two DIFFERENT rebuild kits for 78-79 steering boxes...

Well the guy who SAID he had the special Saginaw pump with the bracket didn't so I called up the JY and grabbed a canned ham style saginaw from a 93 E-250 with a 5.8L. Hopefully ThatGuy (member) is still making his brackets to bolt these up.

I am not 100% sure, but I think the canned ham pumps use the same pump housing, so in theory you could swap the small small style reservoir onto it. I believe the E series vans even have the bolt pattern adapter on them.

Late 60s camaros use the small resi pump as to a lot of Dodge pickups with the 12v Cummins.
