Hell thats a jug of cheap whiskey from the Grog Shop> And waking up on bishops beach a day later buried up to your neck in sand with 200 dogs pissin on your face... well thats priceless. Only in the cosmic hamlet :icon_cheers:

Whoa zombie thread...I say use the manufacturer recommended weight

I am surprised only one person has chimed in using the recommended 5w20 weight. I always use Wix filters and 5w20. Go with the good stuff and you will cut down on the posibilites of any problems down the road.

Its all a gimic. The last time I changed the oil in either of the B-ll's that I own was two years ago and in my 88 and 89 Suburbans was at least three years ago and I had a 80 Toyota Carolla that had over 300,000 on the same oil they all run just fine with no problems and the only thing i did was add an 8 ounce bottle of Prolong to each of them one time.

I know they say you need to change your oil but just for example when (a long time ago) when I was young and was a mechanic for GM every motor we replaced the oil was changed every 3to 5000 miles. My wife's 02 Exploder has had two motors put in by Ford both motors never ran hot but the piston's and most of the barings were scared and it also lost compresion. The oil was changed by the same Ford del. she bought it from and they told her it was oil failure. Just thought it was funny. I in no way tell people to not change thier oil but all my rigs are from the mid to late 80's and never have had a oilchange sence I have owened them but if they ever blow I will just put a bigger motor in them. Bigger is better. LOL.

Holy $hit I thought your were just trolling ...yea good luck with that...

That needs to be in a fail thread

Sent from the road while ignoring traffic

Did I just read that?

I just asked myself the same question.....

Changing my oil is a "gimic"? Whoooa.

This is what I use BTW.... maybe it's a waste of money though.
What oil do you use?

I used Baby Oil in my first truck...ran like a top...just kept spinning and making this horrible grinding noise like it was crying...I thought it just needed a diaper change and I couldn't find the safety pins to do that...it finally stopped crying one day and I figured it just grew up and was like a teenager now so I just let it alone...I think someone in a commune found it and took it in...

I hope it is living off the land and singing love, peace and groovy songs somewhere...

As long as it is the right viscosity, I use the cheapest brand dino oil, I can find, and a STP filter from AutoZone. I used to stick to a 3k interval, but after hanging at BITOG , I have stretched the interval to 5 ~6 K . Highway driving is easy on oil. Short trips are the worst. Oil is so better than it was 30 yrs ago.

Rotella-T 15-40 in EVERYTHING I own.. and never had a single issue. The chevy had 400k on it with no issues and no build-ups of oil gunk.
