What oil do you use?

Oil is blood in the body the little guy does not change c shit, oil loses its viscosity and dirty black all the better! Change Is 8000 miles max

My son works as a foreman at an oil dispensary..most of the oil comes off one roadroad tanker into the totes { Big ole 500 gallon plus oil containers} and into differnt containers called Valvoline , Shell etc...same oil.LOL

However ; Ford Motorcraft is different..

...and then it goes to the refineries where the different companies refine it and put in about a dozen different additives, which is what makes each brand different.

And how is it that all oil is the same yet Motorcraft is different? That doesn't make any sense.

Full synthetics work good up here especially at -60 below plus long distances, just going to the folks' for dinner is an 8 hr run one way and thats considered JUST UP THE ROAD by Alaska standards. Also there was a thread on here years ago that talked about the walmart oil being the best for engine break-in because it had a certain something in it. :dunno:

I am running AMSOIL in my engine. I have not got around to doing it to my trans and diff yet though.

I used to change my oil once a year once a year weather it needed it or not but it burnt a quart a month so it was allways getting new oil. I did the duraspark and valve guide seals and manofold gaskets so now it actually holds oil I put 10w30quacker synthetic with a motorcraft filter about 1K now so I am gonna pour a cup of atf and then change to 5w30 whatever synthetic and motorcraft filter just cause it runs so good right now and it has been never that I had 5 qts in it when I pulled the plug usually about 3 qts of black sludge was the norm.

Exbass....

Not quite..the oil is mixed where my son works..in the totes ..then that tote is sent dirrectly to { Example ..a Ford dealer ship} where the oil is pumped directly from the totes and into the cars..

What I meant by "Not Motorcraft" was that they don't mix that product..that product comes prepackaged..So at this warehouse they have some already mixed products but 90% of it they mix themselves..they make the 5 W 30 ....10 W 30 etc.

He also drives a semi...Early in the morning they load the trucks to distribute the oil to various dealerships...

The prepackaged oil which they don't mix..are Motorcraft and Synthetics...but many of the other ones they do mix are pretty much the same ..

Example..a Ford dealership may ask for 2 cases of Motorcraft , 20 cases of Castrol and 1 tote of 5 W 30 ...the cheaper oil.

Anybody have experience with walmarts supertech full synthetic? It costs about the same as a good brand name dino oil and I was thinking of trying it out...

New oils are very low in zinc, and have been wiping out cams and lifters.

I use 5W-40 synthetic Rotella, since diesel oils still have a good amount of zinc.

man i keep trying to convince myself to use synthetic but i know its either going to leak or i'm not going to be able to even tell a difference. I read around online that switching from conventional to synthetic it could leak a little at first but then would tighten back up or not even leak at all....seems like the overall consensus is that switching isn't that big of a deal.
