The Lone Ranger – Kage’s ’94 X-Cab Leaf SAS and Bed Bob

It would almost be a shame to cut that Sammy, almost. What's your plans for the powertrain?

SVT

Its not going to get cut on that much :D Its pretty dang rust free for a midwest vehicle, and I am hoping to not cut on it too much.

Now turning it into a raisin is another matter...

Motor is going to remain stock for now, though I am looking into what it would take to swap in a 1.6L geo motor. The little 1.3L runs pretty darn good so I'm not a huge hurry to pull it out at this point. That might change when the 35's show up.

The stock tranny Stays, 4.9 gears in the T-case and 5.29's in the axles Locked front and spooled rear.

There is a title issue with it which is going to take a good month before IL will get it fixed, so there isn't going to be any real progress any time soon. I will probably go ahead and build those axles once I get my hands on them so that they're ready to go when the time comes.

Ever thought of a TDI swap? You would have all the power you need, plus run 45+ mpg on 35s :shok:

if your switching to yotas you already get a free gear upgrade assuming they arnt from an 81 theyll be at least 4.10s we got lucky and found a runner with 4.88s stock and just had to regar the front axle to match. my buddy runs a 4.3 in his and it lights up 38s no problem with 4.10s

edit: just read your doing 5.29s and 4.9s that'll be enough for 35s. its just different driving going from somthing torquey to somthing that relies on gearing for its power. either way i wanna see a build thread :-)

I'd love to do a diesel swap, but I've got a feeling that they'll wind up out of my price range. A 1.6 8v from a geo is a likely swap in the future though.

I don't know that I would call my tired 4.0 a torque monster but it gets it done.

I'll put up a build thread once I get rolling on this little project. But that'll be awhile yet....

When you get that 1.6, you can bring it over here (or I can get you one) and i can work some magic on that motor and make it have twice the power and torque, without suffering economy :D

I am beginning to think that you might be a bad influence in my life :icon_rofl:

I ordered the 4.9's for it today since they were on sale. I need to start doing some of the 'free' stuff to it soon. Like going through the rats nest of PO wiring hacks. That's one job that I am really not looking forward too!

Hey, I do great wiring too. You'll see when you come down next weekend. I just stuffed a 97 explorer 5.0 and trans into a 93 jeep Yj complete with custom factory looking wiring harness, OD off switch in the dash as well as an OBD2 port in the cab. I also cleaned up and removed the old wiring harness that was no longer needed :icon_thumby:

We'll see how it all shakes down in the future. If I do a 1.6 8v swap, I'm tempted to keep it carb'd so that things are nice and simple.

Found what broke:

Now that its fixed again, I've started listing it for sale on a few websites (here included). Feels very bittersweet.....

Nice! This means you should keep it. :icon_thumby:

Congrats on the readers ride brother :icon_thumby:
