I just saw one on a Humvee the other day, they call it a "fording stack" for going through water. I have no idea why they had one on since we are in a severe drought...
They look neat on the Humvees because they follow the bodyline, I don't know how well the angled look will be on a bricklike Ranger. Make sure to get a curve or a raincap on the top to keep your exhaust from getting water, leaves and other debris in your exhaust.
I really do not care for them at all even on diesel pickups but they do have their uses offroad
