V8 Conversion Headers

Shoulda bought an s10 perhaps..

Anyone thought of making there own log headers. Could help with the tight fit. Looks like the try y's design could just be modified to clear the transmission.

It's been done too. Advance Adapters (if I'm not mistaken) had these as their "V8 swap headers"

What about the 96-02 V-8 Exploder exhaust manifolds. I agree they might be a lil restrictive, but then again the 5.0 beats anything in a Ranger...lol. Ill try to send some pics. Doing a swap right now and haven't decided on 5.0 or 4.0 for my 88 Ranger 2WD.

If you're gonna cork the 5.0 with the 'sploder manifolds, you may as well go with a 4.0.

350 in a 1st gen BII.

Not mine tho..!!..
Run your headers outside the frame rails. He just extended some racecar headers to go out past the frame rails.

The explorer 5.0 manages to make 225hp with those restrictive manifolds.

Right this moment I've got a complete Explorer GT40 engine with eplorer headers
sitting on my bare '01 4x4 frame and unsuprisingly the fit like they are designed to fit there...

The Headers I'd like to see someone try to use on a 5.0 in a TTB Ranger frame are the headers
used on the 1993-95 F150 Lightning. these hug the block kinda tight compared to most others
and the F-150frame is similar (in design philosophy) to the ranger frame so it might be
"interesting" so see someone try them...

Anyone ever tried these? Found them on ebay under "JBA 1650S-2 HEADERS 1965-70 MUSTANG GT40P HEAD" I tried to find them on the JBA site and couldn't, so maybe they are out of production? I need some headers for my 95 4wd conversion and I've read I need ones specificly for the GT40p heads.

I've also emailed L&L and asked them about whether or not theirs will fit.

EDIT: I got a reply back from L&L, and their headers will NOT work with p heads.

It seems like the different headers mentioned are for the early Mustangs ('64-'70). If that's the case, has anybody tested or thought about Doug's Tri-Y headers for those cars? I was thinking specifically about the Doug's D690YA-R Tri-Y's. This part number is for automatics so I will probably try D690YS-R for a 5.0L/T-5. I like the idea of the Patriot H8426 headers, but the 1-1/2" primaries kinda turn me off to them. The Dougs headers would be a little larger at 1-5/8". Perhaps when the time comes, I will carefully test fit them and if they don't fit, send them back and get the Patriots.

If you stay with something intended for an Explorer they should fit ok, aftermarket Explorer headers are pretty pricy though...

It is kinda hard to tell by looking but I don't think either side of what you have pictured will fit in a Ranger very well.

Headers are a major reason that if I went the GT40 route I would avoid the Ps.

The only headers I know of for the explorers are the old ford racing headers which they haven't made for a long time, and the torque monsters, which I guess they might not be making either. If you go to their website it says purchasing is temporarily disabled.

Here's a look at the torque monsters compared to what I found on ebay, I'm thinking they might work.

I surrender, I don't see either set clearing the frame on my Ranger.

The PS JBA has potential (it would be close depending on how the downward angle of the collector plays out) but the two tube thick DS will be close to the steering shaft.

They do seem to have more potential than the loopty loop TM ones though. :dntknw:

There are a specific set of torque monsters for a v8 ranger conversion, but the pics of them on their website don't look any different from the explorer set. The problem with those is the price and availabilty.
