V8 Conversion Headers

Do tri-ys hang below the frame? I plan on doing a v8 swap in my bagged 94 and havent decided on headers. Im also running an aod, is there any problems there?

Edit: nevermind found more info by looking at all of the pages in this thread. Im looking at this on my phone lol. The tri-ys are for a mustang correct?

One thing I do like about the PS L&L's vs the 88400's is that it kicks it down rather than point it right at the firewall (if you don't have a bodylift)

I also like how #7 of both sets is to the outside on the DS vs the 88400's, so when you run a block mounted dipstick it isn't pinched between the header and cylinder head. That is probably my biggest beef with the 88400's in my truck.

Pics in post #12 of this thread. For a 2wd they are what I would go with, they do take a little work to clear 164T bellhousings as noted later in this thread.

The Tri-Y's we're discussing were originally intended to fit the 65-66 Mustangs. There are/can be minor differences among the dozen or so mfgs of these, so be forewarned, how one set fits may not be the case with another set. This can also be the case with engine swaps, no two are ever exactly alike. Be prepared to make changes no matter what or whose headers you choose.

HAHAHA couldn't have said it any better Baddad, no two are alike, but so far I am liking the Tri-y's.

I went back and looked at the AA headers on Ebay, there's something screwy here. The pics above posted by jfl1960 are different than the ones on ebay. The driver's side appears to be reversed to each other.

Yeah I noticed that, the pics I posted are straight from the AA website, may have gotten some generic crap, if so I apologize but I figured the manufacturers site for a swap style header should be correct, go figure.

Just another confirmation, they do not hang lower than the frame.
To my understanding, the application is '65-'70 Mustang.

Those should fit no problem as long as you are using a C-4 or standard with small bell housing, see the earlier pic I posted of the Ranger with these headers and the cab removed.

AOD, guess it might be tight then. There are a couple similar headers, some list fitting 64-70 some only 67-70.

Those Advance Adapter headers are still there on ebay. 11 days left item number 160715483306

I am trying to fit BBK 94-95 Mustang unequal length shorty headers on my 302, in a '93 4WD truck.

The engine a little high - I made plate mounts for use with factory motor mounts, and raised the engine 1/2" over that (oil pan and suspension parts clearance.)

The passenger side fits - need to clearance the frame to allow the pipe to pass.

The driver's side - :( Minor clearancing of the frame for the collector, but the #2 tube and the steering shaft want to occupy the same space.

I am going to have to modify the header tube.

Too bad there's no hope for us with the Chevy 350 swap,I have been messing around with el camino headers and camaro block huggers but nothing close yet

Serves ya right :icon_twisted:

I know people have done 350 swaps on here before, I really don't remember what they used for headers though. Post back with pictures with what you find, might help the next guy. :icon_thumby:
