Escorts 2nd SAS

dont like the ride or height of your current coils? or just looking to upgrade?

Yes....

I want to keep the ride height where it is, its perfect for me. The problem I have is the coil spring is a little soft. It was only thing close to what I needed, and well, its not working as I hoped and shocks suck too. I have always wanted coil over but the price is what steers a lot of people away, out of their budget. But, my buddy is now a licensed dealer for Bilstein, Fox, and ORI. :D

I see....just curious..
Are they too soft on-road? Seems like offroad a nice soft spring like that would be great.
Bodyroll?
How much difference does having your swaybar connected vs. disco'd make?
Noticeable difference before/after winch bumper?

Not to soft on road, but if I had better shocks I think it would be perfect.
Off road, the front is was soft compared to the rear. A big problem I have is up travel, the shocks bottom out on any bumps.

As long as I keep the swaybar connected, there is little body roll.

The winch/bumper combo is only a few pounds heavier than the stock bumper, it only made the truck sit 1/2" lower.

Sounds like you neee to move the shock mounts up and get longer shocks. then link the rear and use those.coilovers back there instead.

I say a pair of Bilsteins, with the stiffer valving would be your quickest, and cheapest option to control those soft springs.

Have you been reading my mind?

That would be nice, or maybe Fox since they are rebuildable.

Ok, change of plans. My current steering setup will just not work with hydro assist. There is no where to put the ram. The trackbar is in the way at its stock location. I will have to relocate it higher on the axle. So if I so that then I have to raise the draglink too. So I have a few options.....a WJ knuckle swap which will cost me close to $350 with new bearings and brakes not including price of knuckles.

My other option.....

http://www.jb4x4.com/store/jbrsb.htm

This will bolt to my current knuckle and will be less than a 1/4 of the price over the knuckle swap.

Here are a few pics of the setup on another forum....

that's awesome.....i may look into that instead of the knuckle swap. wonder if you could just weld it to the knuckle though? i'd rather do that i think

Suppose you could. Just follow the laws of welding to cast and should be ok. I would bolt it also to give more strength.

I have seen somebody on here that has used that before and they were running leaves too. I thought about doing that and have been considering it in the future.

I say put a saginaw pump on first and then see if you need hydro assist or not. Thats my future plans at least.

I already have the ram and hoses so its going in.

Wednesday I am going to the Take a part and see if I can find a saginaw pump and a steering box.

Had a little fun today.

This area is usually full of water. But with no rain for almost 2 months, there wasn't much mud.
But, the little there was was nasty thick mud, got buried up to the doors and had to winch out. It was like a wall I hit and couldn't move forward or backwards. Was fun, went with my brother.
Got a few more scratches and dents in the passenger side.

I think the trees hate your passenger bedside.

They hate my whole truck lol..

How did you like the KM2s in the mud?
