Not much done on the truck, been a busy week. I did get out last night and a little today any put the finishing touches on my tubing bender. Hoping to be bending up the exo before too long so I wanted it ready.

Oh and I got some seat time in the truck making some noises and banging some gears playing with shifter location and height.

I think this will be just about where it ends up.

I had one rigged on the ranger on the dash, never worked like I wanted so hopefully having it on the shifter where my hand stays will help.

id like to use a shifter from one the lever style for a riad bike because you can set it throttled up and leave it there while u do other things with your hand

My original idea was a motor cycle twist throttle on the end of the shifter, which I still may do but I need to get a feel for the gear banger to see how tight everything will be to see if it would work.

A lever style shifter would be nice if you needed high idle for some reason. Other than that, I don't really see the benefit of having a consistent high idle. I think the brake lever is the way to go. I think it'd be easier to control than a twist throttle. Twist throttle would be kinda neat though.

I'm going to play with it and see what I like, I have a few brake levers around and I think I can snag a twist throttle from a buddy.

Deffinantly need some way to keep better control of it and only let it go to about 1700-2000 rpm, I don't think there's any need for more then that. With the choke cable I had on the ranger it would shoot up to 4500rpm and get stuck. I want something that feels comfortable enough to always be in my hands and controllable enough that if I'm feeling lazy I an just use my hand to drive :flipoff2:

starying at high idle could be handy for long winch run's especially up here in the snow where you might do 2 or 3 in a row. typically after 3 you stop and let everything settle back down as depending on how much snow yer pullin thru the winch can get a little warm.

as for the twist grip throttle this isnt the best picture but it's the best I can find right now. if your familiar with short course off-road racing. evan evans is paralyzed from the waist down. hte twist grip conglomiration is his EVERYTHING shifter breaks gas. and he still runs with the best of em (or crashes trying)

personally, i wouldn't do the twist grip, if you need a lot of throttle modulation while shifting, you're going to run the risk of not being able to have complete control with you're foot... if you grip it too tight, or if you twist you're wrist while hitting a bump... i think the bike lever, or an atv thumb control is a better idea... IMO

Never seems to be a problem wile riding the dirt bike. as for hitting bumps. uh yeah no problem with that either.

the difference being on a dirtbike, you're not controlling 2 independent things with the right handle bar... i know, you're going to say steering and throttle and possibly choke, horn, starter, headlights, blah blah blah, and probably in a dumb voice while hitting you're head with an open palm, my response to that, ride a dirt bike with 1 hand all day, only using the left hand when you shift... ever done it? hard to have throttle control...

this is only going to fuel the fire.

front brakes and throttle. yes there are times you use both at the same time when racing. and weezl i know you said in your opinion but in my stinky ipinion if it is set up right it would be no trouble at all.

as for one handed riding yep done it. one handed races. only difference is you could only use your right hand. not bad,not nearly as hard as the other "events" we do on the annual club ride.

but whatever to each his own
