railmans build thread....

that last.pic.looks.fun..

it was, but more so for the SWB guys....

So how long did the swap take? 2, 3 weeks? Maybe you should give slo-vo a hand...

was really about 5 days...Sunday before Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Thursday before TFT at Badlands...

I was wondering the same. And why leaves? The time issue, or...

leaves, rebuilding the D60 was Really expensive ( at least for my wheeling budget:icon_twisted: ) and was simple enough....plus time constraints....

I will wheel it like this for awhile and see how it goes...if I start having any real issues I can then start Phase II....which would be 3 link and coilovers....

but, everyone on the trip said they thought my truck flexed really well...just seems nobody really ever caught my truck in a good flex shot:dunno::dunno:

as a matter of fact, in this pic....

my drivers tire was up on the shelf still and the front passenger dropped to the next level...just the pic was snapped as the passenger tire was still rolling down the step....everyone said it did flex out really nice...

Bah leaves work just fine. the only reason id ever change my samurai is ive gotten into the habit of bending leafs with the front mount shackle like yours. you dont meed massive flex if you have a set of lockers

right now I am planning to make my front bumper have some sort of protection for my shackles to keep from bending the leaves....my thought is that since they are the lowest point on the front it wouldn't hurt to have something right in front of them to protect them...

Did you get the driveshaft fixed? I want to hit Interlake sunday:icon_bounceblue:

no, plan to hit YPP tomorrow to find a shaft I can modify to use...so I won't be ready by Sunday...wish I could though....

Looks good! :icon_thumby:
And with those 39.5"s how's the 4.88 gearing? And what do you think 5.13s would be like?

thanx Jay:icon_thumby:

feels pretty good with the 4.88's, not much different than stock feeling ( 3.73's and 32" tires )....but 5.13's would definately be better.....

Thanks for the measurement. Did you notice lots of dragging over the tops of hills? You wish it was shorter? Trying to get a feel for mine.

your welcome:icon_thumby:

no, it only dragged on some extreme break-overs....but I expected it to....

and yes, I wish it were shorter and already planned to shorten it....looking for 115" or so, at 130" now.....

Damn its lower than i thought! I love this truck. Now 302 it with doubler.

I think the 4.0 is fine for now.....and a doubler is commin' after the first of the year.....as soon as Josh takes it out of D.....

No need for a 302, but I agree with the doubler.

Plud he's already swapped motors once.

yup.....and yup.....

and the only reason it was swapped was because I hydrolocked the original motor at Turkey Bay:icon_twisted::icon_twisted:

If I recall, you used 4 door explorer leafs up front, right? Did you have to add any leafs to the pack or was it enough to hold up?
