disciplerocks's B2 build thread

Does anyone know if there is supposed to be a c clip on the end of this pin to hold the fork in? I makes sense, but there's not one there.

Figured as much. I'll have to pick one up.

yes there is a small c-clip that goes there.

I picked one up. I think there's supposed to be a pin between the case and fork for a pivot point too. Why is this thing missing all the little pieces? Good thing I noticed before assembling it.

Better watch the slip on the front with alot of droop. Could slide all the way out or even worse just to the edge then the yoke could bind and break the case off.

Really wish i had a 1354 to throw on there. I just found and easy way I could have lengthened the front shaft.

are they the same splines???

Thats the female end from a 1350 t-case.

Dustin, pick up a 1354E, they are a dime a dozen and cheap. Split the cases and use the rear half of the 50 and front side of the 54, and all the internals of the 54 (6 gear planetary over the 50's 4 gear)

I would have no way to shift it. The 54e has the motor on the back, the 50m has the shift lever on the front.

But on that note, I was thinking of getting a 54e and making my own manual shifter or get the shiftster.

But then I was thinking I would have a spare 1350 if I did that and started thinking of running 3 t-cases lol.

Too late, I've already been talking with Bones about a 3 speed case, but taking the reduction gear parts out of the case, fabbing my own housing (which would only be about 4 to 5 inches long), and putting the two together...I thought about doing this to the RBV cases as well, just havent got to that stage yet

Not saying I'd be the first by any means. Just thinking, if I'm gonna do it, why not do it up.

that's what i meant when i was asked "what about the slip yoke?" if you're swapping in the 54E internals you'll have a fixed yoke so it wont be problem.

why not just wire up a switch for the 54E and shift electronically? put it in a center console or something.

or, how about this:
put all 3 T-cases together, get another D35 axle beam/pig and install it in place of the pass beam, have one T-case power the driver side pig and one t-case power the pass side pig. you can eliminate the middle axleshaft that way.
