i remember the pic too weezl. its not of everything though i think its just the wheelie machine and the shorty though

ya,there's lots of pics with a random combination of vehicles....especially with shorty,since it's basically my yard tractor(look at the beginning of this thread as an example)but there's no posed group photo as such.

edit...i just looked back at the first page-we have the gt,shorty,wheelie,and stretch in a variety of photos.maybe by summer i'll be able to get a group together.

y'know,it's funny the kind of things that will lead a guy to spend a bunch of extra time and material changing something that won't be seen when the car's together.i guess that's what keeps the insanity rolling.


i wish i could get $300.maybe if i weren't in the middle of nowhere

actually, funny thing, i got paid more today than i've EVER gotten paid before, to drive a truck from poco, to creston, i got paid like $120 an hour, take home! it was wicked!!!! now i sit in the bar in creston and await my greyhound, i'm just about done my second beer, and i've got another 2 hours to wait... not hungry, i've got NOTHING TO DO!!!!

that very well might be it, it's not exactly as i remember it, but i DO remember the t-bird bring in the foreground...

canada day mud bog.it's the biggest(and only)4x4 event on the islands.

in line with the whole body-to chassis interface thing,i needed to ge the rockers figured out.a big part of this was getting the sidepipes hung,as the rockers pretty much envelope them.

on top of the pipe is the setup that came with the kit.it would be pretty effective on a car(or truck)that had room for it,but there was no way i could fit it into this build.
i cut the saddle for the u-bolt to make a weld-on bracket(above,in pic)then drilled the frame side to accept the isolator.washers have been used temporarilly to space the pipe out to it's needed position,though these will be replaced with a machined spacer.

from inside...it's not too obtrusive.

i wanted the body to be able to be removed without disturbing the mechanical in any way...and this meant the sidepipe mounting couldn't be disturbed.with this setup a simple notch in the bottom of the rocker to clear the pipe mount will allow the body to be pulled up.this still needs to be cleaned up and flashed in.

the rocker assembly is made from four parts-the inner section,a flat stiffenner,the outer rocker panel,and the door sill.this structure is fairly rigid...i think it will do the job well.

bolted to the frame,you can see how tight things are on this assembly.both rockers will be assembled onto the frame,then the body dropped onto them and welded to them in place.this will ensure everything lines up when done.

by the way...i did a little checking.i think that in terms of posts(not including some game threads in the tailgate)this is now the biggest thread on the site.
i could be wrong,though.

Btw I have found that any day at work is made instantly better with the use of one of 3 tools: sledge hammer, crow bar, or sawzall. Unfortunately the sawzall we now have is rather girly - I went through 3 batteries in 1 1/2 hours. Who buys a cordless sawzall?! Damn Yankees.

it took me a lot of years of messing things up before i could put the pieces together where i could make something that anyone would want to look at.now that i sort of have things figured out,i'm old enough i'm worried how much longer i'll be able to do it

i've looked at the cordless sawzalls...but i've never used one.i can tell you right now that battery technology has not caught up with the load i put on these things.
i'm surprized that extension cord technology can keep up.

my sledge hammers and crow bars on the other hand,are cordless.

I haven't had trouble with my old man's dewalt one, but the guy at work bought craftsman power tools. Definitely not the right choice.

Last Friday my boss gave me a bunch of cordless Craftsman power tools since he bought a nice Milwaukee set and didn't want them getting in his way anymore. I took them home and tested the 3 drills, 2 circular saws, flashlight and sawzall and I was stoked when they all worked, so I took the sawzall out to the backyard to cut down an old dead plum tree. It made about 3 cuts through the 3-4 diameter tree before it died, so I gave up and figured the battery was dead. The next day I grabbed a fresh battery and saw it still didn't work. I should have been more careful not hold the trigger so long, I let the magic smoke out!

I seized the motor cutting dead, dry wood. Weak.

well,i'm sure that was tougher than the stuff i'd be cutting

but seriously,a cordless drill i can see(i just bought a new 18v dewalt a couple of days ago-love it!)but circular saws,sawzalls,and other high load items i just can't see it.it simply takes too much power to do the job properly.
