Gt-12

thanks tom!

that's a weird looking heater core... so the driver gets semi cold coolant then eh?

depends on which way you run the coolant through...though i don't think keeping warm in this thing will be a problem.

so i was looking at the car today and felt like it needed something.but what?

well,a body lift,of course!

i was having too hard a time reaching a lot of stuff i need to get to,so pulling the body shell up was the best way to go.it's light enough that four hooks screwed into the floor joists and some utility-grade pulleys with some 3/16 poly rope allowed the body to be lifted free and hung from the ceiling.

i'd forgotten how much easier getting at the interior was before the body was put on.

You should weld the doors and hood shut, clean 'em up a bit and rig this bad boy up funny car style....

Well maybe not but thats the first thought i had when i saw this post.

ya,that may have to be a future project:icon_thumby:

i solved my driveshaft dilemna today.after checking out the bmw driveshaft to see if it would be suitable,i found it wouldn't.if it were a manual trans car i may have been able to use it,but the auto driveshaft is just not even close.
i got lazy and used alldata to check this...way easier than crawling around under the car, especially since there`s a cover under the driveshaft and the exhaust runs under that.so i can`t even see it without taking a bunch of stuff off.

so i called up pat's driveline in surrey,and ta-da!

10 minutes and $421 later, there`s a custom made shaft on the way that will just bolt in,guaranteed vibration free.

that was easy:D

one of the first things i did after pulling up the body was to get the rear tubs in place.

i really like the looks of all the aluminum coming together.shame it`ll all be covered over.

the downside of the new shifter linkage-my nice clean trans tunnel has to be hacked up to clear it.i`ll make it all look nice and i`m real happy with how the shifter works, but still,it was a bit of a shame to chop it full of holes.

some really nice aluminum work there Tom:icon_thumby::icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

I understand about the shifter linkage....but sometimes function out-weighs form:D:D

...but sometimes function out-weighs form

And sometimes a good dose of insanity out-weighs both, as is evident from this thread (or any of GWAII's other builds for that matter).

insanity rocks:cool:

Insanity is generic, you get it from your kids.

while i could comment on the irony of the use of the term 'generic',i believe you may have meant 'genetic':D

and yes,the kids do drive me crazy on a regular basis...thus the desire to hide in the basement doing whatever i can think of to escape.

all i could think of was building this thing.

wait, on top of all of this crazy crap you do, you take care of a wife, AND kids?

i suppose it makes sense, being you built stretch for a purpose, but it never quite clicked that you also had kids in the house! lol
